Whoever green-lit it in the first place should be fired. Even in a pre-COVID world, that type of ultra expensive resort tied to Star Wars was never going to work.

Yeah, this was a real gamble that they should have researched more. People are being more choosy about SW merch they buy and a stay at a place like this is not high on the list for folks like that.

Why not just cut the price for rooms in half?

I think the whole "experience," involving different activities and a host of cast members, is just prohibitively expensive. It was also apparently only 100 rooms, so the cost was split across only a small group of people. If they stopped the activities, it'd be just a vaguely Star Wars themed hotel, but I've read it's not in a very good spot as far as hotels go, tucked into the backstage area, so people would be better served going to one of the other Disney hotels in terms of access to the park, views, etc.

I wasn't sure if I should put this in the Kenobi thread over in TV Talk or here, since it's a movie edit of a TV series. Anyway, I thought the huge effort done for this fan edit (going as far as creating new VFX shots and even hiring actors for reshoots) is impressive.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

Lucasfilm has not had a Star Wars feature in theaters since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. At April’s Star Wars Celebration, it teased its theatrical future, including a feature to star Daisy Ridley, another from The Mandalorian‘s Dave Filoni and an epic from James Mangold. On Tuesday, Lucasfilm moved a previously dated Star Wars movie from December 2025 to May 22, 2026. The Ridley feature is furthest along in development and is likely to open on that date. And curiously, Lucasfilm revealed in Tuesday’s announcement that it has added a new Star Wars feature for just five months later: Dec. 18, 2026. (Another Star Wars movie stays on its existing date of Dec. 17, 2027 so hence wasn’t mentioned in the announcement).

Regarding rumors, I'm never going to believe that Kathleen Kennedy has left Lucasfilm until it's been reported in a respectable trade, like Variety or The Hollywood Reporter.

Can someone explain? I don't get what the Kevin Hart gif is responding to.

There was a now deleted post from Rob V claiming Kathleen Kennedy was fired. But it was just some random YouTuber saying he has "Sources"

Not a random YouTuber... but it was still a farce. Given the guy's credibility in the past, I was surprised (and disappointed) he did something like this.

There have been rumors that Kennedy was fired every other month or so for the last few years.

One of these times it may actually be true.

I can't wait for the day Kennedy is actually fired and the movies still aren't any good.

Was it this Victor von Doomcock dickhead? Yeah, I still occasionally like pissing off his small cult of neo-nazi lemmings by reminding them of his adamant claim that Harrison Ford’s Han Solo and Chewie were both going to make an appearance towards the end of The Book of Boba Fett 🤣

^^ No, it was Star Wars Theory. I deleted it for a reason.

I'm in the minority most likely, but that's devastating news to me. The guy plays up all my least-favorite aspects of the franchise and downplays all the parts I love. The embodiment of Star Wars "folding in on itself", as I call it.

That's great news. Enjoyed everything he's been involved with.

I'm down for it. He's done way more good for the franchise than bad, so I'm glad to see this.
