Is Disney secretly run by Warner Bros? Cos that sounds like the typical DC strategy.

The tenth and eleventh seasons of The X-Files are really weird. Most of the episodes are just flat-out awful, but "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat," could easily be in the top 5 episodes of the entire series. And the Were-Monster one is pretty good, too.

I either don't remember "Rm9sbG93ZXJz" or missed it. (Even googled it for a plot summary.)

Were-Monster and Lost Art are the only episodes I really remember, except for the awful macro-arc that seemed to retcon the macro-arc of the first nine seasons.

I often wonder if the unsatisfying nature of the conspiracy macro-arc of The X-Files comes down to bad writing and making shit up as they go along, or if they're attempting to capture the mercurial nature of conspiracy theories. I tend to believe the former, though.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

Patty Jenkins went from having Wonder Woman 3, Cleopatra, and Rogue Squadron in the works to nothing. She has nothing in development. Sucks to be her. And she hasn't worked in almost 5 years. WW2 was filmed in 2018.

She really, really shit the bed with WW2... and Waititi shit the bed with Thor... I don't know if I want to see my favorite franchise touched by either of them despite a record of SOME success.

I love Christopher Nolan's work - all of it. I wonder if he would ever get a chance to make a trilogy.

Hasn't the franchise suffered enough since 1997?

I'm a big fan of pretty much all of Nolan's catalog too, but I don't think he'd be a very good fit for the Star Wars universe.

I'd rather see Neill Blomkamp direct a Star Wars film than Nolan.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

I'm a huge fan of Nolan's work, but given his increased obsession with violently aggressive audio, the opening fanfare alone is liable to murder 90% of the audience.

Thank goodness he hasn't decided to revive the Deep Note (though I do miss it).

Or make THUD a reality.

Surprise, Surprise another Star Wars project in limbo. Says they are getting a new writer.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

It's weird how they can't seem to get any film projects up and running. How hard is it to map out a three-movie arc and sign on all the required talent? Heck, how hard is it to just make one movie in a franchise that practically sells itself?

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

At what point does the Disney Board of Directors look at the leadership and say 'this just isn't working'?

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

Even though they de-canonized them all, it wouldn't be a stretch to look at the DECADES of comics and novels (even some of the games) and just adapt something, literally anything.

At this point it's got to be the leadership at Disney trying to meddle with the story (like they did with Finn) and the directors are pushing back. They're not going to get anything if they don't just try to do something.

They had the perfect opportunity to honor the legacy characters AND transition away from the Skywalker Saga with the prequel trilogy but instead of going in a new direction they chose to double down with the “Rey Skywalker” bullshit at the end of RoS.

Now if they want to go in a new direction away from the Skywalkers, they’ll have to go about it completely cold. I’m not sure they’ve got the balls to take the franchise in a completely new direction like that.

Good, I don't want any new movies until leadership and direction is solid - maybe have something for the 50th anniversary in 2027.

Are Lucasfilm, its lackies, and its apologists, going to blame the "toxic fans" again?

There's a guy on TikTok that taught his cat to play Cards Against Humanity, I say we find this cat and ask her to choose some comic or novel and Lucasfilm has to make that story next.

The creator of Peaky Binders was hired to write the new Star Wars movie.

I hope he makes it very British

I guess it’ll just be that much more disappointing when it gets cancelled again.

Are we going to start a pool to bet on when this guy is off the project?

I'll take September.
