I wonder how this will work if Happy no longer knows who he is. It seems like most of his abilities derive from the tech that Stark Industries supplies him with for his adventures. This version of Spider-Man never really explained how he got his powers or even if Uncle Ben existed or died in the same manner as other versions. His web shooters were supplied by Stark, so unless they come up with some excuse for that, he technically shouldn't have those afterwards.

I'm not saying that they need to do a whole movie on his origin again. But, there should have been a flashback to how he got his powers or how he and Stark met. One of the biggest aspects of Spider-Man is his guilt over his uncles death and how it could have been avoided. That is completely missing from this version and it just comes off as someone who is Peter Parker and Spider-Man by name , but doesn't share what's essential to the character. Really none of the side characters have any resemblence to the comic book counterparts other than their name.

Good god NO. As we don't ever need to see Bruce Wayne's parents gunned down in an alley again, I don't need to see Uncle Ben either. It's done, we all get it, and my favorite thing about the current Spider-Man movies is they recognize that his origin story is very well known.

With the MCU's Uncle Ben, I'd rather they just say that Uncle Ben died from an illness or accident. Maybe he died in an accident, and Peter feels responsible, like Peter had May and Ben take him out to the beach for a weekend, and Ben ended up drowning saving a swimmer in distress.
That would both provide Peter a sense of guilt and responsibility over Ben's death, but also motivate him to be a hero and live up to the legacy Ben's set for him with that selfless act.

I still haven't seen the second Holland Spider-flick so I'm not too invested in this series but loved the Mcguire series... the Doc Ock reveal was phenomenal. So now I want to go back and watch Far From Home.

I had an interesting conversation with my 6 year old son today after showing him the new trailer. He was excited to see a live-action Doc Ock but when he saw the Alfred Molina appearance he couldn’t quite understand how THAT was Doc Ock. Then I realized his only exposure to the character has been female. Doc Ock was a female in Into the Spider-verse and the new kid’s show Spidey and his Amazing Friends. It took me awhile to explain to him that Doc Ock was a man in the original live action films. I’m still not sure he believes me.

coincidentally Spider-Man 2 was on STARZ that afternoon so we watched that. We haven’t looked at any of the comics but he does have a large Marvel poster on his bedroom wall that has a collage of most of the Marvel characters. Doc Ock is there but looks slightly different yet again.

My kids have seen all of the Spider Man movies, aside from the MCU ones since we haven't made it to them yet. I'm sure they'll recognize Molina's Doc Ock, but probably won't grasp how impressive the relevance is. Which is fine. For me, Molina was the best thing out of all of the Spider Man movies up until Gyllenhall (who I hope isn't gone forever).

It's their play on Dorian Gray. The older Doc Ock gets, the hotter Aunt May is.

Re-watched the first two Maguire movies last night. A few CGI spots and Macy Gray withstanding, they do hold up pretty well. Both Dafoe and Molina were the best part of their respective movies. Curious if they will actually share a scene together in this one. I've read some speculation that

Wait, was that an actual animated episode or two of old series? I know the voices were current, but the animation looked shot for shot.

They were both on FX (Or something like that) yesterday. I remember being a fan of the movies, but honestly..better than I remember. I don't understand the complaint that he needs a guardian figure the entire time. I feel he has a learning & personal growth arc in both films that work well the way they are.
