Wrapping principle production over a year before release? Isn’t that unusual for movies that aren’t extremely effects heavy?

Yes. It's been kind of common to have a big window with some of these DC movies though. It was always kind of weird when this was announced to be filming before The Batman and being released after. They may just end up moving the release date. It also may have to do with Gunn be contracted for other things and promotion schedule.

Warners would probably like to have a window for reshoots. If it were anyone else, I can see why they might do that. It's also a budgeting issue, probably trying to keep the costs within this fiscal year.

I think this is likely. Also believe they'll move it to the spring 2021 depending on what's open, perhaps late March? That would give it space from The Suicide Squad to The Batman (June) to Black Adam (December).

Yea... WB is going to shuffle release dates regardless. They currently have Sherlock Holmes 3 and Black Adam opening on the same day. If Sherlock Holmes 3 actually does happen and if Black Adam does start filming this summer on schedule, that could take over the early August (or move to later August) release date if TSS vacates and moves to March/April.
But then again, SH3 could just move back, though it was approved for a tax credit so it should still be a go... Regardless, they have a lot of options.

Not a trailer. It’s a roll call graphic on who’s playing who

Didn't see Idris Elba playing Bloodsport. Had to look at my trusty DC Encyclopedia to read up on the character, it was just a short write-up.

Fuck yes - I am very excited for this. After WW84 this is easily my most anticipated DC flick. Love seeing Margot Robbie back too!

glad Robbie and Kinnaman are back as i really like them and the additions of Elba and Cena are good too, especially Elba as i like him in anything he does. James Gunn is great and he's done some really good stuff with Guardians and Slither, of course. looks good.

I didn’t realize a number of original cast members are back for this. That’s cool, I guess.

The Suicide Squad films can only go up. The first movie was pure shit and Birds of Prey was below average.

I am gonna guess that big set piece in the jungle is the start of the movie and many of the characters die (Elba, Fillion, Cena)

I would be surprised if they killed Elba's character off early on. Fillion most definitely will. I'd guess Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang doesn't make it out of the opening sequence.

I dunno, seemed like Elba had other things he was working on at the same time. Hopefully I am wrong.

Is this a sequel, a reboot, or some combination of both. Because I'm totally ok with writing the first "film" out of existence.

At least this time with no Joker we won't have to hear Margot Robbie's terrible read of the word "puddin'"

Looks like a "soft reboot" to me, where it technically takes place in the same universe as the previous film but won't have a lot of callbacks and will (hopefully) be stylistically different.

Just from the featurette, it looks and feels like Rogue One. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Which again is the whole purpose of the Suicide Squad.

No surprises that many of these guys will be out the door in the first couple of scenes but the variety of obscure characters makes these even better. This is what I was talking about the other day in a DC thread where the company needs to embrace their entire catalogue instead of just focusing on Batman and Superman.

I've disliked Courtney in everything he's been in, except that he was my favorite part of the first Suicide Squad movie.
