I don't remember seeing the scene in the teaser where Loki throws a pair of daggers in slow mo towards the camera either.

Hela's hairstyle also changes from scene to scene. Sometimes she has slightly wavy hair but is stick straight in other scenes.

Tessa Thompson has THE sexiest walk on the planet. I noticed that back in Westworld S1, and she didn't disappoint here.

Hela was underwhelming, and her appearence and Odin's backstory reveal didn't nearly have the impact that it should have. I also thought the entire Raganrok thing never felt as ominous as it should have. Luckily, Thor, Hulk, and Loki are strong enough to carry the entire movie. I thought Guardians 2 and Spider-Man were much better as far as MCU movies this year.
This sums it up for me as well Although I probably liked it a little more than you did. I thought Hela was pretty badass (and Cate looked amazing too).

Agreed that the GrandMaster/Planet Hulk middle act was fairly standard and unremarkable. The entire time, I felt "Get through this so we can get the fuck back to Asgard".

I think a more interesting movie, to me anyhow, would be everything Heimdall was doing with the Asgardian refugees. That seemed to be the stuff of a great movie to me.

Re: Thor: Ragnarok (Taika Waititi, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I gave it 5/5. I thought it was just tremendous fun, filled with likable people, humor and wit, great action and looked fantastic. I am SO tired of dark, gritty comic book movies. I am SO SO tired of Iron Man in every MU movie. This, along with GOTG feels like a comic book to me. I just enjoyed every minute of it. I would say for Marvel Movies this year I would put this first, GOTG 2 second and Spiderman a very very distant third. I liked WW better than all of them though. Justice League looks terrible in the trailer. Still not really looking forward to the Avengers as that is likely to be another Captain America (I cant stand the character) and Iron Man slogfest. My one nit, is that with Odin's original nature revealed there should have been a scene showing why he became a benevolent ruler, though it is hinted it was just the birth of Thor. I really really liked this movie.

I absolutely LOVED Tessa Thompson as the Valkyrie. I'd love to see a whole movie based around her.

She's awesome.

Of course, I don't think we're going to see a Valkyrie movie any more than we're going to see a Black Widow movie (which I would also love to see), but it's a nice thought.

Do I need to have seen Thor Dark World before seeing this? Or other recent Marvel movies? Thanks.

Wouldn't hurt. Do you know who the characters are? If not.....you're lost.

I know who the characters are. Dark World is the only hole in my MCU viewing, but my wife hasn't seen anything since the first Avengers movie.

She might want to watch Age of Ultron, but she wouldn't be too lost if she didn't. It does come up though.

Well, this movie does directly address a plot point that happens at the end of Thor 2.

The end was pretty major plot point that is addressed in the beginning of this movie.

Thor AND Deadpool spoilers abound

Spoiler:
Matt Damon has a surprise comedic cameo in this as an Asgardian and a surprise comedic cameo in Deadpool 2 as a redneck. Could he be getting his own spin off as Morph?

Looking at the poll for that movie, doesn't look like anyone hated it. Vast majority gave it 3.5 or 4 stars.
