A story just came out that DC Films president Walter Hamada is staying until at least October. He was apparently upset about how this all transpired.

Hamada has now agreed to remain in his post at least until the Oct. 21 release of the Dwayne Johnson film Black Adam, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. “He’s pausing,” says a source. “The decision has not been made to make this adversarial, yet.” Hamada could not be reached for comment.

I wonder if there is concern about even Black Adam being pulled? Does not bode well for the movie… Might not be very good.

In the earnings call, both Black Adam and The Flash movies were praised as the type of movies they want to do going forward, so it seems those two are safe.

It's one thing to pull a small budget streaming movie starring someone no one's heard of. It's another thing to pull a big budget movie that's already been heavily advertised starring the biggest action star in the world.

They're not pulling Black Adam.

I wonder what their 10-year plan is?

Black Adam, Shazam, Aquaman....then like three Batman movies?

I'm seeing others point out that The Flash stars Ezra Miller who has apparently been on a sexual rampage across half the globe with all kinds of cops after them and there's no danger of that film being cancelled, but Batgirl stars a POC and also has a transgender actor/character and it's the one getting the boot.

Not a great look for the new leadership, plus, isn't the stock tanking?

Might not be very good but it has the star power of The Rock. No way that film would be pulled.

They’ll pull the Flash (because of that fuckhead) before they even think of pulling Black Adam. Toys are on the shelves. Or it could be a Rock curse. Gi joe toys were on shelves and that movie was super delayed, with talk of it never coming out.

Yeah that must be the reason... the costume alone is reason enough to shelve it.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking. Black Adam, Shazam and Aquaman better perform really well. Otherwise it'll just be all Batman, all the time, guest starring these other guys that they have no faith in. I wonder what Zaslav thinks of WW1984.

The Big 3 are what they are focused on right? It sucks because any character outside of them will have to fight for a film or show, but i guess that's nothing new. They'll just have to fight even harder. Like I said...10 years of just various Big 3 Films. Sigh...

Are there any decent DC shows left on CW? Only one I can think of is Superman and Lois. Gotham Knights has potential, but, as you said, we'll see if it even makes it to air.

I'm not saying it's intentional, it may likely be purely coincidental, the point is it's still not a good look for a new brand.

Stargirl is a show that many seem to enjoy a lot.

I don’t get why TV shows get cancelled and episodes go unaired. Some get picked up, filmed, and never aired. Video games get towards the finish line and get cancelled. No one cares about these things. No big deal apparently

But Batgirl? Holy crap the world ends when a movie is shelved. Why is that form of entertainment different from Tv or video games?

I like it. Ironically Stargirl was a DCU show first- I suspect if it does come back (and that’s a big IF) there will only be one more season.

It was throwing away the $90 million investment that got people's attention.

Yeah, I don’t know of any shows that spent that kind of money only to never it see the light of day. That’s like of like Game of Thrones being shot but never aired. But I’m sure Gizmo can provide a long and distinguished list of shows that went that way.

A bit off topic, but what is the general ROI for a movie? I seem to remember it had to make 3x the budget at the box office in order to "break even".

Because it barely ever happens. TV shows can lose their audiences. Video games can hit technical hurdles. But once a movie is done, if you cancel it, you are admitting that you fucked it up so bad that it wasn’t worth saving. That is VERY rare in the film industry.
