I'll take any Batgirl that doesn't immediately (or eventually) go sleep with Batman.

Well, that wasn't Barbara Gordon though. This one in the movie is Barbara, right?

As always DC Fanboys never disappoint. Many are losing their shit in DC Groups over this casting and the idea that we won't have a white Batgirl and we also may not have a Red Head Batgirl.
DC Fanboys: "*Sniff* I don't care who plays the character as long as the story is good"
WB: (Casts Batgirl...)
DC Faboys: "Noooo! This is NOT Batgirl!!!"
{Time Machine noises}
WB: (Casts Ben Affleck)
DC Faboys: "Noooo! This is NOT Batman!!!"
WB: (Casts Gal Gadot)
DC Faboys: "Noooo! This is NOT Wonder Woman!!!"
{Time Machine noises}
WB: (Casts Heath Ledger)
DC Faboys: "Noooo! This is NOT The Joker!!!"
{Time Machine noises}
WB: (Casts Michael Keaton)
DC Faboys: "Noooo! This is NOT Batman!!!"

It is a little funny when you look at all the redheads that they changed when going to tv or film (I understand why with Batgirl but I don't know if this is all just coincidence or if there's a shortage of redheads in Hollywood or something):
Jimmy Olsen in multiple incarnations now
Lana Lang
Lex Luthor
Vicky Vale
Artemis
I guess if you really want you can include Starfire, though she does have red hair.
in the other universe, Mary Jane
But were the same people up in arms about Barrymore?

(I don't vouch for any leanings that article has, I just read the entry titles. I don't agree with some of them.)
Personally, you couldn't pay me to care about a Batgirl movie when there are so many other (DC, female) superheroes I'd rather see adapted. Manhunter, a Catwoman re-do, a Batwoman re-do, Big Barda, Black Canary... Not to mention all the teams you could do.

Well, they did allow Lois to be a redhead... though Amy Adams is actually blonde so I'm sure it doesn't count.
If they do the hair flowing out of the cowl they should make it a wig though because man that's going to be a terrible way to hide a secret identity otherwise.

JK Simmons in talks to return as Jim Gordon. Guess this movie is in continuity with the DCEU?

Who knows what this is supposed to be. Something separate or something connected to the DCEU that previously existed. If it is tied to the DCEU then might as well use Simmons to fulfill his contract.

Or... it'll be like him in Spider-man where he's playing the same character, but a different version.

I know that Gordon has been recast for The Batman. Think that’s supposed to be in its own universe though.

It fell apart after they booted Snyder off of Justice League.
They're just going to pick and choose which characters to reuse, they're going to reboot properties right and left, ignore certain things, pretend other things didn't happen, and hope we don't notice.
It looks like they're keeping Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn around -- and maybe Ezra Miller's Flash and Khal Drogo's Aquaman -- but everything else seems to be in a state of flux. And Shazam, too, maybe, but I don't know if it was ever meant to be in the same continuity as the other old DCEU properties.

Although the events of Man of Steel was referenced with a news clipping (IIRC was a pic of the world changer) in one of the kid's room (and he had a batarang that matched the Affleck bat symbol). Course that just could be chalked up to easter eggs.

I don't think there's any kind of functional or cohesive "DCEU" at this time.

They are extremely reticent and gun shy about building another interconnected movieverse after their experiences over the past decade.

Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah confirmed that Batman will appear in HBO Max's upcoming Batgirl film -- but they won't say which iteration of the Dark Knight it is.
While speaking with VRTNWS, the duo was asked about Batman, to which Fallah replied (translated from Dutch), "Now you're asking too much." "I can say that it's really Batman Batman," Arbi said. "But who, we can't say," Fallah added. When asked if the actor in question was someone who'd played Batman before, such as Ben Affleck, Christian Bale or Val Kilmer, Arbi said, "I don’t think we’re allowed to go into that much detail."
