Dan Aykroyd Slams Ghostbusters Remake Director; Reveals Reshoots Cost $40 Million
It made a lot of money around the world but just cost too much, making it economically not feasible to do another one. So that’s too bad – the director, he spent too much on it. He didn’t shoot scenes we suggested to him and several scenes that were going to be needed and he said “nah, we don’t need them”. Then we tested the movie and they needed them and he had to go back. About $30 to $40 million in reshoots. So he will not be back on the Sony lot any time soon.”

Whatevs. Paul Feig has been making good movies and TV. And will continue to make good movies and TV. Anything with so much fandom is really touchy.

I didn't know Dan Aykroyd was a Sony exec.

Actually, I would watch the sequel... so it does effect me slightly. You have no plans to watch it, yet you're acting as if it does effect you.

It just lowers the overall cultural landscape. It's depressing to watch turd after turd cranked out. American cinema is so lost right now. Almost no great films are being made.
It's like asking how does the homeless problem effect me since I have a home. The answer is it's just depressing. It's a sad blight. That's what these films are. Sad blights.
"We're making this, instead of something good, because we don't know what good is, and it will be made by someone whose not very good, because no one of greatness has risen in years and if they ever did we'd ruin that person."

Much of the best storytelling has turned to great TV too. I think a lot of talent and funding is transferred there. Something like Better Call Saul or Twin Peaks is more exciting than any movies coming out this summer.

That's been the opinion of many since I first came on this board back in 1999.

Here's the thing, Sony in wanting to jump start the franchise, created Ghost Corps Inc, the banner for all Ghostbusters related properties. So the animated film that was planned, the Tatum film, etc. were all to be under this production entity in which Aykroyd has a stake, so in a way, it does impact him and the studio.

I was waiting for the day this would happen, because at least Ivan Reitman and Ernie Hudson defended us. Next time don't let One of Hollywood's biggest manginas near a male centric movie franchise. Along with JJ Abrahams, and Joss Weadon we can call you what you really are, Traitors. I hope Sony goes bankrupt and Akyroyd and Reitman can take the Ghostbusters name elsewhere. Just keep it away from Disney.

And this is from someone that really disliked the movie too.
