Anyone else find it slightly (or even really) annoying that the main reason we didn't get Ghostbusters III all these years was because Murray refused to do it...yet he had no problem doing an extended cameo in this reboot? I guess you could say, well this is a different character so that was the appeal - but still, it seems like a slap in the face to those who really wanted to see that third movie.

Those emails were from 2013 and were in reference to Bill giving approval for the "true" sequel, and had absolutely nothing to do with this reboot.

Why would he want to do Ghostbusters 3, when we all know it wouldn't be anywhere as good as the Original? Heck, Ghostbusters 2 sucked, IMO. 99% of the comedy sequels suck, or end up having a few really funny parts that they end up using in the trailer. The one thing I will give Murray is he didn't sell out a do a bunch of dumb comedies after his success with Caddyshack, Stripes, and Ghostbusters. Unlike Chevy Chase and Eddie Murphy who careers fizzled because they were just collecting a check and didn't care what type of comedy they were doing.
Just imagine the Internet shit storm if Edgar Wright had been originally attached to direct GB3...

That would have been awesome.
0I liked the first Ghostbusters film and watched it recently and it's still just ok - nothing special. The sequel sucks, though. I don't get the frothing at the mouth over this all female reboot of the franchise. It does look mediocre but it's a already a reboot of a mediocre franchise anyway, so who gives a shit? It looks like it's more of the same mouth breathers complaining that their childhoods are being raped again and this time it's by icky girls.

Then came Groundhog Day. Danny Rubin, who originally wrote the script, recalled how when Ramis started scribing his draft of the film, he immediately and instinctively played up to Murray’s strengths in order to get his old pal to play the lead. It worked, and Murray accepted, but he was experiencing incredible strife in his life at the time of filming and his behaviour on-set became more and more problematic. Not only did he fail to turn up on time, but he would throw tantrums, argue with Ramis over his directorial choices, and insist that the film be more moody and provocative than the straight-forward comedy Ramis desired. Ramis and Murray couldn’t even work on the script together alone, and the filmmaker resorted to sending Rubin to try and improve on the screenplay with the actor. Then when Ramis tried to call to hear about their efforts, Murray would simply ignore him.
Despite these issues, Groundhog Day was another huge hit for the duo, and ironically it managed to embrace both Ramis and Murray’s ideas, which combined perfectly to create a truly original cinematic tale. But this success didn’t eradicate their conflict, and Murray refused to ever work with Ramis again. Friends of the pair have since speculated that this was because Murray had grown tired of the idea that Ramis was responsible for his career. They didn’t speak to each other for 21 years.

As brilliant as Bill Murray is as a comedian, he seems like a dick-head in real life. Maybe that's what makes these comedian's so brilliant, as they always seem to have trouble with their personal lives and comedy is their therapy.

I have, for a long time, gotten the feeling that Murray is someone who could be difficult to get along with or work with.

My bet is that he's extremely moody. Great to work with when he's in a good mood, but difficult at best to work with when in a bad mood.

http://www.billmurraystory.com/ has some fun stories of people who interacted with him. He definitely seems like his own person.

Yep, it's a critical success now... there's no denying it now.
There are films that have been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar with a lower Tomato-meter and average rating than this.
Now the question is will this due decently at the box-office to warrant a sequel?

After this year, I don't think any movie that gets less than a A+ cinemascore and a 8.0 out of 10 on imdb is getting a sequel.

For those who want Ghostbusters 3, go play the videogame from 2009. It's as close as you'll ever get to your true, dream sequel, and it's not a bad game either.

The Machinist
Cloverfield
Thor
Popstar
Wolf of Wall Street
Killer Joe
Gladiator

So, in doing that quick search, I came across this comment on bodybuilding dot com
lemme guess. 77% of reviewers were female.
of course this will get positive reviews from females who probably have no idea about the first one

and
rotten tomatoes are a bunch of cucks
This guy seems to think RT is writing all these reviews?and
It's getting panned on imdb so I'm guessing rottentomatoes is full of SJWs. I usually read imdb anyway, fewer pretentious neckbeard reviews.

Just came back from seeing it in London (still have no idea why it's been released on a Monday but there you go!). Also saw it in 3-D. Usually not bothered by 3-D but it was an earlier showing so went for that and it's actually pretty good tbh.
Anyways. I loved it. For me it's a 4/5. The jokes are thick and fast. There's a joke about "being the mayor from Jaws", when you here it you will laugh a lot.
I'm not going into loads of things. There is an after credits scene so stay for that if so inclined.
I think the cameos work as a whole. They don't seemed forced to me. Even Harold Ramis has got one, see if you can spot him!
There are a lot of lines from the original that are either used unaltered or slightly changed just to fit the scene.
