Spider-Man: Homecoming (MCU reboot) (7/7/2017 - D: Jon Watts) S: Tom Holland

Altering a timeline to resurrect characters (by never having them die in the first place) is a little different than a formula that raises people from the dead, which sounds suuuuuuuper stupid.

Per Deadline:
Some of their previous work: Horrible Bosses 1 & 2 and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, which is one of the worst comedies I've ever seen.
Vacation writer-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are being set right now to write the Spider-Man reboot movie for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. The pair had been among the names on a shortlist to direct, but that gig went to Cop Car helmer Jon Watts, and the studio already has found its new Peter Parker in Tom Holland.

I actually liked Horrible Bosses and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, but I haven't seen Horrible Bosses 2. Not sure I see writers who are mostly known for comedies as a great fit for Spider-Man though to be honest. I get that Sony and Marvel are trying to incorporate more of the character's humor but there still needs to be a balance between that and action/drama.

John Francis Daley was on Freaks and Geeks, so if they're going for a John Hughes esque type of movie, I'm sure he can just flash back to that show and riff on that material

Daley and Goldstein writing seems to be official now:

On the writing the Spiderman reboot
Daley: We can finally acknowledge that.
Goldstein: We've been saying no comment for the last week.
Daley: This is the first time that we can say that we are writing it.
Goldstein: We're thrilled.
Daley: ... He's a sharp kid and witty and kind of deals with the fact that he's an outcast and a geek through humor. It is sort of the safety net for geeks like us, so I think we can totally relate to where he's coming from. As well as the superpowers, which we also have.

I hope that in the finale Spider-Man roofies the Sinister Six and moves them all to another location.

Nope. To be honest, I never even heard of that movie until it was mentioned in this thread. I looked it up on wikipedia, and I don't think I missed anything. The movie looks bad.
I saw Horrible Bosses, and I thought it was very mediocre, so I never bothered watching the sequel. I never heard of Burt Wonderstone at all.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is stupid yet sorta funny in my opinion. The biggest thing about it is the cast is pretty great.

Well if the reviews of Vacation are any indication...I'm going to bet someone from inside Marvel will be doing script doctoring.

Another Spider-Man reboot is upon us, but with this new film resulting from a partnership between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, it at least promises to be interesting from a business standpoint. Creatively, though, all involved seem keen on trying something different from what came before, which is a necessity given how drained audiences already feel on this one superhero. The key to that change appears to be in aging Peter Parker down, with Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige wanting from the outset to tell high school-set Spider-Man stories in an effort to explore an aspect of the character that’s only been glossed over on film.
This drove the casting process for the new movie, which eventually settled on 19-year-old Tom Holland to fill the Spidey suit and, not so coincidentally, act as a nice foil for the 30-and-over actors that populate the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And as development on the new film ramps up to begin shooting next summer, screenwriters Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley as well as director Jon Watts are honing in on exactly the Peter Parker that will grace the screen in this new untitled reboot.
In speaking with Empire Magazine (via Yahoo! UK), Watts spoke briefly about avoiding rehashing the Spider-Man origin story (something Goldstein and Daley previously reiterated) and dropped one significant nugget of news: Peter Parker’s age:
“There are only so many times you can kill Uncle Ben… I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high-school movie. We’re really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He’s just 15 now.”
So again, the high school setting and John Hughes tone are things that Feige and Co. have touched on before, but this is the first confirmation we have that Peter Parker will be 15-years-old in the new film. We’ll get our first look at Holland in costume in next April’s Captain America: Civil War, followed by the untitled Spider-Man reboot on July 28, 2017.

goddamn. I'm tired of it keeping Spidey in school but that could develop interesting things if they keep him young for a good period. I still wouldn't mind a time where... you know... Spidey's an actual man. As a kid, I was much more interested in actual Adult Parker than HS or College Parker.
Shit. He was interesting as a HS teacher even.

Maybe it follows more closely the TSSM cartoon to help bring familiarity with the kids?
