Also, thanks Rich and Jay G for your explanations of metacritic scores vs RT's...it was useful information.

This. Lights and strobing effects go beyond the screen to fill the theater (in the trailer when Hela asks, "What are you the god of...?" and Thor starts to light up with electricity, there are strobes and lights in the theater walls that are sync'd to it or when the giant wolf attacks Hulk, there's a spray of water to simulate the water and drool coming off the animal as hulk stops his lunge).

That would be so awesome if the Kiss song God of Thunder was played at that time!!!

I wanted God of Thunder over the end credits of Thor since before the first movie came out. Like the way Black Sabbath's Iron Man played over the end credits of Iron Man. I don't think that would have fit with the tone of the previous Thor movies though. From what I've seen so far though, it just might fit here.

I like to imagine that the 4D showings of this movie involve theater employers dressed up as Hulk smacking around people in their chairs!

After seeing SM:Homecoming and thinking about what I've seen so far of T-Rag...I guess Disney and Marvel are simply turning their films into Comedies with some action thrown in. I'm ok with that I guess...

I saw Rogue One in 4D. It was kinda fun, one of those things you do as a special treat instead of watching a movie "normally". Lightning, wind, smoke and water effects as well your seat rocking and vibrating in sync to the action.

Mods, I am currently sitting in a theater waiting on a sneak preview of Thor Ragnarok to start. Any chance of getting a review thread started? I promise a spoiler-lite review tonight or tomorrow

The mod's don't normally start the reviews thread, OldBoy does, but nothing is really stopping other people from starting them.

I think it's more that Marvel is allowing their directors to showcase their voice and vision in their MCU sandbox. James Gunn and Taika Waititi are comedic directors.
Still looking forward to Ragnarok.

As for Marvel making note comedy movies, well i think their properties like Thor, Ant-man and even Doctor Strange that are more fantastical lend themselves more to comedy elements. I have no problem with it.. Having different super hero movies occupy different genres keeps it fresh. Hell i laughed more at GoTG Vol 2 than most actusl comedies in recent years.
