Worst franchise in the Marvel universe.

Keep Thor out of Earth and away from Portman, Dennings, and Skarsgård and this will be the best Thor entry yet.

Oddly, Earth was the only time I enjoyed the first Thor. The stuff on his home planet was just painfully hokey. I should probably watch Thor 2 sometime.

I could have swore we had started a Thor 3 thread... but could not find. Maybe we didn't. If someone stumbles across, shoot me a PM to merge.

Yeah this is my least favorite of all the announcements. I'm sure Marvel is just going to hit the trilogy mark because they have to and then no more solo Thor.

All of Thor 2 is painfully hokey. Actually, it's just painful. Proceed with caution.

I agree with you but I think we're in the minority on that. From the Thor reviews thread I think most people enjoyed the Asgard stuff more than the Earth stuff. The Asgard stuff just felt too outlandish to me. I guess that was the point though. Maybe I just wasn't ready for the Marvel universe to travel outside of Earth.

I guessed that Ragnarok would be the only way to go to up the ante. Thor is the weakest solo film hero. They really need to hone down a solid script. Somehow they're very wishy washy in quality. Thor REALLY has go up in quality now.

I like the fish-out-water Earth stuff in the Thor movies. The scenes with Thor asking for a horse at the pet store, and Thor hanging Mjolnir on the coat rack crack me up every single time. The only thing I don't like is the Darcy character, but she is a minor part.

I was looking forward to Thor 2 having loved the first one. But for me, it never really took off until it started to get looser and less serious towards the end of the second act. I'm sure a lot of people would classify those parts of the film as hokey and campy, but I find that far more entertaining than the film taking silly (and derivative) stuff waaaaaay too seriously. The characters are invested in the events, but the film still has fun with the outlandish nature of everything.
That's just the right balance to me.

I think the first Captain America film is the weakest.

I don't mind the fish out of water idea. I just wish it had a good script. There are neat ideas but sorely lacking meat to the flesh of the film for a good overall.

I said, "weakest solo film hero" Not film but Film hero. Cap 2 beat the shit out of Thor 1 and 2 combined.

Shit, that too.

I agree with your second part.

The Thor films seem to get some hate, but even though they're not as great as some of the other MCU movies I find them fun and entertaining, and round out the universe pretty well.

Raganarok is interesting; that's also the name they gave the fake Thor robot from Civil War.

They also had their own Ragnarok in the comics. Which I never read but I was excited about it cuz that's a big deal in the Norse text.

If I remember right, Ragnarok is actually the Norse version of the Apocalypse. End of the world kind of crap. Maybe Thanos gets all the Infinity Stones in the movie?

Ragnarok is also a big influence on the Game of Thrones novels.

Rumor has it, Marvel wants to bring back Kenneth Branagh to direct Thor: Ragnarok.

When Kenneth Branagh was promoting his live-action Cinderella movie in February he said he would be "delighted" to work with Marvel Studios again as he had "fond" memories of the time he spent on Thor (2011).

According to El Mayimbe of Heroic Hollywood, there is mutual interest in a reunion, but that ship may have sailed because of another film offer.

"I was hearing that Marvel wanted Kenneth Branagh back for Thor 3," El Mayimbe said on Marvel Movie News Live prodcast. "But, he just got an offer to direct Murder On The Orient Express at Fox. So, I don't know if it is going to happen or not. They're thinking about bringing him back into the fold."

I really enjoyed Thor 2. Better than Thor 1 by far (Thor on Earth is painfully, dreadfully ponderous! "Look! Watch Thor as he tries to order a cheeseburger!!"). I wish he would lose the entire Earthbound supporting cast. Just terrible.

Both Cap films were still better though. As was Iron Man 1. But I'd put Thor 2 above IM 2 and 3.

I'm hoping for Beta Ray Bill in part 3...

I don't have the Mexican Voodoo to bring him back from the Astral Plane. But let us burn some herbs and let me wipe you down w/ some cilantro and rubbing an egg across your head and body and we'll see if you got any ailments or bad Juju, Holmes.
