I'd rather watch TMZ's coverage of the downward spiral of Shia Labeouf than sit in a theater for a 3 hour 3D Transformers movie.

I haven't seen the other films in the series for a while and forget, was there an actual reason the Sam character was written out after Dark of the Moon? I know that Shia LaBeouf didn't want to do another but just wondering if there was an actual storyline that wrote him out or not.

Lockdown was a character in the comics I presume?

Just got back from seeing this!!!!!1
100/100 STARS AMAZING. Absolutely amazing! Teh Dinobots were amazing, the action was amazing, Lockdown was amazing, Marky Mark was amazing. Hell...even the daughter was amazing! (the boyfriend...not so much. He was only great). I'm definitely going to be seeing this one again. I thought the lens flares at the beginning of the film were an amazing nod at Abrams work. (Maybe Bay is trying to get in on the next Star Trek, or Star Wars franchise flick that's in need of improvement) Spoiler:

It only takes about 30 seconds of daughter screen time for you to completely forget about Sam.
(and I loved Shia Leboufs performances) |
Re: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Bay, 2014) — The Reviews Thread
I found it mostly boring and incredibly way too long. I kept waiting for the film to go to Hong Kong and when it did, I was thinking ok, at least it's about to end. But no, it still kept chugging on.
There was nothing new offered in terms of CGI spectacle. There's nothing here--including the completely wasted Dinobots--that you haven't seen in the previous movies. |
Re: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Bay, 2014) — The Reviews Thread
This was pretty awful -- I don't know much about the Transformers back story so won't comment on robot dinosaurs or anything. Tucci was decent and Goodman was funny channelling Sobchak. Ms. Bingbing was great as well, she looks amazing for 42.
Lots of inexplicable moments(even for Bay) like the boyfriends rally car getting t-boned without even suffering a scratch....ham fistedly putting in the sassy black woman (black real estate agent in rural Texas? Naw son). Sophia Myles character was wasted. The boyfriend has no chemistry with Marky Mark or the daughter (who also can't act but goddamn she's smoking). All the dialogue in the Asia car chase scenes was just laughably bad, even grading on a curve for Bay. How many times did they say "whoa"? 1.5 stars |
Re: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Bay, 2014) — The Reviews Thread
Thanks to those that pointed out the dinobots being Lockdown's prisoners. Shit, dude is a collector or some shit. That just goes to show you that it's a testament to bad editing.
Dinobots in this were the equivalent of Bane from Batman and Robin. Oh, and the "comedy" elements for that stupid Secretary of State character with the porn-stache was atrociously bad. Also, how fucking awful was the boyfriend's Irish "accent?" Wow. |

Can someone look over how the rules of this place roll with a troll? I've never understood how the mods don't boot him out.

Maybe in 30 years I'll look back on the Transformers Bay Movie Franchise and think of it as imbecile.
When I was a kid I thought that Passenger 57 was the height of action flicks and nothing would ever be better. While it's still a great flick, it obviously didn't hold up. However, for now please let me state my opinions and leave your responses hate-free. If I want to be bullied I'll go back to my middle school. Thank you! Back on topic: I spoke to several co-workers today who also saw the film (no one I have spoken to has hated it), and we all can't wait for the next one! All of us have agreed it was a long film, but no one could think of anywhere you could actually cut a minute out of. What I really loved about it was the actual character development of Optimus Prime. Spoiler:
I would have sat in the theater for at least another 3 hours given the option. |

Yeah, the bit with the Dinosaurs not being used as the origin of the Dinobots was a total head scratcher.

That said, Titus Welliver did not have his gun to Tessa's head. It was one of his goons.
