Agreed. I remember the stills looked hokey as all hell but it looks fantastic in motion. They also kept the Steve Ditko influence in there, too.

As someone not familiar with the character at all, I think it looked cool, and I'm sure it will be visually amazing in imax 3D, but I'm a bit concerned that introducing magic and these crazy visuals will rob the movie of any substance, but in terms of both story and visuals. When anything is possible, nothing is of consequence. Similarly there comes a point, again both in terms of plot and visually, where reality is manipulated to a degree that one stops recognizing it in real terms and instead process it as something unreal, like a cartoon.

oooof. They could have edited that better. Just seemed like random edits to make a trailer.

Then it ends with "go online to see the full trailer". Where would that be?

I'll watch this because it's Marvel and they can pull it off. I don't care too much for the magical/mystical but I'll give it a chance. It looks a lot like Leonardo Dicaprio's "Inceptin" right now though, which I hated.

As I said earlier, it has the potential to become a CGI Shitfest. CGI Porn? Is that a thing? But it's Marvel Studios so I'm sure it will be "ok"...and forgivable.

I really love Mikkelsen's way of delivering dialogue. Really stands out. Add in that he has an awesome voice too.

I LOVE Swinton but think it would have been better to not lose an Asian for this character. Would have been cool if someone like Michelle Yeoh was The Ancient One. I'm fine w/ the gender switch but not the race switch. I do hope she's a cool character though. I never really cared for him in the comics. Mostly just thought he was neat but nothing that engaging to me.

For those who don't know anything or much at all about the character like myself, I liked reading this overview of the character and his history.

looks interesting but I think it will be Marvel's first (relative) bomb.

although I think I said the same thing about Ant Man and Guardians of the Galaxy too.

They took a gamble with Cumberbatch. His three biggest movies were two Hobbit movies and a Star Trek.

I predict it'll wind up in the middle of Marvel movies.

In general, Marvel doesn't cast big movie stars as their leads.

RDJ is really the only one, and he was at a low point of his career at the time he was cast.

I'm wondering if Marvel is worried too. They are doing a 15 min IMAX preview, I'm guessing to help spread word of mouth.

Following the new photos and character posters released earlier, Marvel Studios and IMAX have revealed a new first look at the upcoming Doctor Strange featuring a ton of new footage from the mystical side of the MCU. If that whets your appetite for the movie, then good news, the pair have also announced that an exhibition of 15 minutes of exclusive footage from the film across 115 North American theaters on October 10 at 7 PM.

“As a movie fan, I am thrilled to take audiences along on the visual journey of ‘Doctor Strange’ and give them an early peek at what we’ve been working on,” director Scott Derrickson said. “The completed film will feature more than an hour of specially formatted IMAX sequences that will provide audiences with a totally immersive—and mind-blowing—film-going experience and I’m excited to share a taste of that with our fans on 10/10.”

Tickets to the event are on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be secured by clicking here.

I thought the IMAX preview was to tout all those Inception-like parts for the most part. After this many movies and the fact that every one of them have been hits, I doubt they're worried about much at this point. Allows them to take a few risks, such as this movie. I think it'll do just fine.

Not so much as big movie stars but all their movies have had some pretty good-looking guys. Even Rudd is a nice-looking everyday kinda guy. Cumberbatch seems more the math teacher type. Maybe it's me but I think his look may hinder the movie a bit. It might be shallow-thinking but audiences can be finicky. He's a very good actor, though, and I hope the movie is a lot of fun. He just doesn't look like a fun guy.

Hrm. I think he's a good looking guy. Not Micheal Fassbender good looking but then... how many guys are aside from Hokeyboy?

He's a different kind of good looking. Exotic? Is that the world. Uncommon? I think Tilda Swinton is hot as hell but she's weird looking too.

I can't remember if it was here or Otter where the question is asked, in essence, what's the ugliest person that's still sexy.

I don't think Marvel has expectations for this to be a huge hit like GotG became. I'd imagine if this did as well as Ant-Man did, they will probably be happy.

It doesn't have anything to do with the movie, but I thought this was cool:
