Am I the only one who has no clue who Dr Strange is? I'm guessing he's some D-list comic book guy?

I was reading the comic book thread and remembered how fucking fantastic Dr. Strange was when Steve Ditko drew him.

B-List edging on C-List. Was way more popular when around the time he was introduced. After that... used here and there. Never strong enough again to get his own seriously ongoing title but still popular.

THe Mystic side of Marvel has never really been that popular. But Stange has always been loved.

Even got put on an Avenger team.

Love his baddies. Still a better character than IM in the comics.

Fuck. I'd kill to see Shuma Gorath pop up in the MCU. We need more of that kind of weird shit in the MCU.

Dr. Strange is a silver age character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in the 1960s. He's been active in the Marvel Universe for that whole time, but isn't popular enough to support his own title long-term, except for a period from about the early 1980s to the mid-90s, when almost every b-list character had his own series. He was also part of Marvel's "Midnight Sons" short-lived horror-themed line in the early 1990s.

Just watched the trailer on Kimmel.

Looks pretty good. Definitely looks to be an origin story (remember hearing the MCU wasn't doing anymore origin stories), and a number of the bits reminded me of Inception.

Really loving the mood and tone and fact it doesn't give too much away. And for my money, this is one of the best casts a superhero movie has had yet - Cumberbatch, Tilda, Mads and Chiwetel - nice!

Loving the very Ditko shots which everyone will think are "Inception" homages

The only bits that looked particularly Ditko-ish to me were the interior shots with shifting backgrounds with Mads. The folding cities looked really Inceptiony, as did some of the cinematography.

Hmmm... this is the first one of Marvel's films that I'm not all that excited for. Teaser didn't do too much for me.

Disappointing. I thought it would be a lot more trippy and psychedelic.

this might very well be Marvel's first cinematic (financial) bomb.

although I said the same about Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man.

They're probably holding that back. This is only the first trailer.

I don't know if it will be a bomb. I really don't see any of their movies flat out bombing. But it may be kinda "huh?" with general audiences. But Marvel has earned my trust. I will keep all expectations in check until I see it.

Yea. This is just something to throw in front of Civil War to let audience know what's next.

Yeah. They're holding back a lot considering what we know that Strange himself can do.

Have no idea, don't know anything about the character. But this looks like it could be very cool.
