Not so much as big movie stars but all their movies have had some pretty good-looking guys. Even Rudd is a nice-looking everyday kinda guy. Cumberbatch seems more the math teacher type. Maybe it's me but I think his look may hinder the movie a bit. It might be shallow-thinking but audiences can be finicky. He's a very good actor, though, and I hope the movie is a lot of fun. He just doesn't look like a fun guy.

I get that they "need" to do an origin type story but if Marvel could just speed up the process and get to the meat. This looks like it will be 3/4 dreary learning stuff and the last 15 minutes payoff doing stuff.

Anybody else go to the 15-minute free IMAX preview tonight? My wife and I did (just like with GoTG) and knowing nothing about the character, we were both sold. It appears that Marvel's streak continues. The main setpiece looked like the 2nd dream level in Inception on steroids.
One question for the more knowledgeable though: is Strange supposed to be more like Stark in terms of personality? If I had one complaint about the footage it was that. He kinda came off as snarky/wise-ass like RDJ is as Tony.

Need to see in true IMAX! That preview was a mind fuck of Matrix meets Inception on a bad acid trip.

Yeah, I don't think this will bomb at all. Like Ant-Man, this won't be blockbuster, but it'll be decent. Cumberbatch has been making a good name for himself with Harry Potter, Star Trek, Sherlock and The Imitation Game. He's a bigger draw than most would have you believe now...

'Doctor Strange' Director Addresses Whitewashing Controversy:

No real surprises, but Derrickson makes a reasonable point (and one that will no doubt to be argued interminably) about the comic version of the Ancient One being an old American stereotype of Eastern people.
Nice to see the movie getting its world premiere in Hong Kong since it was partly shot there.

I don't get his point - if the issue is that the character was originally a stereotype, seems like they could have just re-written the character slightly to remove the aspects that were stereotypical and keep the ethnicity in tact, rather then changing it completely from an asian man to a white woman. Sounds more like PR/PC type speak, and I recall something similar being said about The Mandarin.
I get that they wanted an actor the caliber as Swinton - leaving it at that is a better excuse to me.

But doesn't that imply..actually, pretty much admit ...that they feel that there are NO Asian actors that good? Which is fine if they feel that way. They should just say that.

Headed for an opening of $60 - $75 million: http://www.darkhorizons.com/doctor-s...r-75m-opening/
Puts it in line with most other first Marvel movies.

Yeah. He's never been anywhere close to RDJr in attitude or whatever.
He's a bit of a know it all, throws out a quip at times but not like Stark.
Even 5 or so years ago when he was starting to really get into the more active Superhero community. Sure he got a bit more talkative but he's kind of a jerk cuz of how much he knows that the heroes don't.

Initial opinions: http://www.slashfilm.com/doctor-strange-reviews/
A lot of "Not top 5 Marvel but really good" mixed with "Best action sequences in MCU" along with "Finally a Marvel movie with a great score" and an abundance of "I want whatever they were smoking"

Nice to know that Scott Adkins is always working. I spotted him immediately. I'd recognize that head shape of his anywhere.
