I'd be interested in the context sometime (maybe another thread)...some actors come off that way not because they're jerks, but because they're either notoriously anti-social (probably not in this case) or just worried that every new person that approaches them can't be trusted (considering DiCaprio's fame, quite possible in this case).

Would also be interested in how long ago this was, as DiCaprio admitted that earlier in his career (i.e., the TITANIC days) he acted like a real punk and was full of himself (I want to say this was in a PLAYBOY or ROLLING STONE interview a few years back).

I met him during the filming of Titanic in Mexico (long before I was a cop) and he was a colossal racist prick. Personally knowing several dozens of the people who worked on the film the stories all agree (as well as many others about his "lifestyle actions").

That doesn't surprise me, he was probably 22 and the media was already all over his dick. Not saying it's excusable but it isn't surprising. If that carried over into his 30s then he's just a douche.

Looking that up, I forgot that Winslet's character was supposed to be 17 in that movie. The late 90s liked that whole "Lets show titties of potentially underaged girls." thing, except for that shot in American Beauty which I think consisted of actual underage boobs.

A friend of mine owned a store that sold original art from Southern Mexico. I was visiting and sitting behind the counter with him when Leo and his friend walked in. I think because I have dark hair and was seated (standing I'm 6'4") they assumed we were both Mexican and didn't speak any English. They walked through the store talking shit about the art, giggling over what a worthless culture Mexico has, opining on how it was no wonder "wet backs" sneak across the border, etc.

The art was from Oaxaca and I believe the style was called Alebrije (wooden and paper mache monsters painted bright, strange colors). I lived in Tijuana for 7 years but have been all over in that time.

I always fly Volaris now when I go to Mexico. Flying out of TJ international is insanely cheap. 2 round trip tickets and 5 nights in a hotel for less than $800? Crazy.

Yep, I used to go with Mexicana before they folded and now it's Volaris. I have to fly out of LAX, which is still about a 3hour flight, which ain't bad at all. They still serve snacks and beer, too.

Guanajuato and Michoacan are my favorite other-than-Guadalajara spots to vist. I usually stay in the town square of Guanajuato, Guanajuato. The grub, drinks, rompope are the bomb! We usually take the ETN chartered buses there, because those buses are so freakin' comfortable and relatively cheap.
