Where were all these comic book movie directors when I was a teenager?

That's extremely disturbing.

I guess this makes me a bad person but the first thing that crossed my mind when I read this was "how is this going to effect the X Men : Apocalypse movie?"

That's an unfortunate development... I think he's a talented director, but if the allegations are true I want him put away to the fullest extent of the law. He can suck all he wants behind bars.

As far as these films go, this one's in the can obviously.. they can just bring in another team for Apocalypse.

If this was true, it would be a criminal case and not a civil lawsuit.

Weren't there also some kind of allegations against Singer from the movie Apt Pupil?

Apparently yes, but in that case, the charges were dropped. It's still extremely disturbing though, especially in light of this.

He just bent an entire fanbase over a barrel and fucked them instead.

I'm always wary of these things that get brought up much later in the future. 15 years ago?

Not only that, he's latched on to the same attorney that represented the kid against the Elmo guy. Not saying they aren't true, but what would prompt a lawsuit now and not 5 or 10 years ago? Seems ridiculous.

I read it has to do with a new statute of limitations law in Hawaii, he had till the end of the month to file.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014, Singer)

The only I can think of that would hurt Singer based off of that article is his association with that dude who was convicted of transporting kids through state lines.

This guy:

Marc Collins-Rector, the former chairman of Digital Entertainment Network, an ambitious Internet startup that sputtered in the dotcom bust of 2000, is also cited in the Singer lawsuit, although he is not named as a defendant. He is accused of initiating the sexual abuse of Egan and arranging for Singer to assault Egan at a house in Encino, Calif.

Collins-Rector is a registered sex offender, having pleaded guilty in 2004 to luring minors across state lines for sexual acts.

The lawsuit alleges that Collins-Rector and his Digital Entertainment Network investors, including Singer, would lure young men to a house dubbed the M & C Estate in Encino to intoxicate and sexually assault them and that many in the Hollywood industry were aware of the “notorious parties.”

Singer won't be directing it, but he will put in a cameo as the Buggernaut.

If this were a 17 year old guy getting drunk/high and banging his female teacher we'd be giving him high fives.

Right, specifically from CNN -

Attorney Jeff Herman chose Hawaii to file the suit because the legislature there opened a window for two years allowing old sex abuse cases to be filed. The provision expires next week, Herman said.
Still, the initial assault came in California, and apparently the kid goes on two more trips to Hawaii after the fact. Yeah... I don't doubt something shady went on initially (along the lines of sex for fame and stardom), but this seems like a money grab.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014, Singer)

Ok, so the suit was filed in Hawaii, but the age of consent in Hawaii is 16 (at least according to Wikipedia). So how is this even a case? Unless it was different back then.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014, Singer)

I'm not reading through this clearly nonsense case to see if someone already posted this, because this claim is clearly, clearly BS.

I saw the headlines, ignored them until just now. Clicked on one, read the details, figure I'll see who this Egan is. Google him. Whoa, IMDb! Thinking 'Man, if he appeared in Singer movies, Singer is screeeeeewed."

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1144411/

Yeah. An extra, who someone (himself) even added to the details/about, "Michael Egan is an actor...." An extra in three movies from decades ago, who makes their own IMDb page. Who, at 31, decides to sue a famous gay director... a month before his biggest project ever comes out. Who, I read, claims he was raped at a party, then continued to be raped by letting Singer fly him to Hawaii? With promises of appearing in X-Men? A month before Singer's first new X-Men in years and years comes out?

Some dude rapes me, I don't board a plane to Hawaii to meet up with him and get raped some more. Period. So I don't know what the case is here - is this Egan a total asshole looney money hungry fame whore making up everything? Possible. Or Singer might have been really stupid in his youth, had a relationship with someone he didn't know was underage (or even did), but clearly not rape and a sexually abusive, sex slave type deal.

And yeah, making claims based on one IMDb page and one article summarizing is a stretch - that said, little things can tell you a *lot* about people. I don't know many people who appeared in two-three films from 98-early 00s as an extra who make their own IMDb page - my God, I live near DC, and I've been an extra in two movies purely by happenstance. It's not like he's some aspiring actor with a reel and career - I've gotta imagine if you live in LA, you'd have a hard time not being a background extra a million times over - certainly if you're f***Ing Hollywood elite in mad sex parties.

Such a shame these delusional, fame seeking jackasses continue these horrific, career ending lawsuits. Anthony Anderson is another that springs to mind. It's even worse when they target a homosexual man, a highly visible individual in the gay community. It might've happened, it might not - if it did, it certainly wasn't rape. Seriously, how many trillions of times do we expect extremely young women end up screwing any man with fame or influence in desperation for fame themselves in Hollywood? If this guy was really 14 or 15 at the time, it was wrong of Singer, absolutely. Some dude rapes me, somebody like Singer? I don't wait 16 years, when his new X-Men comes out, to sue him.

Here's how I see it went down - he either is making everything up, or... he had a relationship with Singer at some point. Then sees Singer directing the new X-Men movie. Contacts Singer demanding to be in it, blackmailing him, and Singer ignores it. Now, a month from release, asshole Egan realizes it's over and done, he won't be the new Wolverine, hello Mr. Lawsuit. The absolute worst part is, even if it gets proven Singer never even touched this guy, the damage is done. Singer's career will never be what it would've without these allegations. These sorts of things, regardless of the end result, put a black mark which'll follow Singer for the rest of his life.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014, Singer)

Doing a bit more reading, which is it?

http://mobile.news.com.au/entertainm...-1226888810094

Says Daily Mail reports he was 14-15 *when* Singer 'raped' him. Variety reported, apparently, he was 17 when it started. That's a huge goddamn difference. 14 is a pedophile, regardless of consent. 17? Night and day. Especially in the 90s, before people felt they had to card sexual partners. One year from being legal? If he was 17, then I think it's almost a certainty they did in fact have sexual relations. And, while 17 is legally statutory rape/underage, I'm sorry, but it's just not the same as 14-15, and it's not even something I have an issue with. Not when our society has countdowns to 18th birthdays, an entire genre of wildly popular 'just legal' porn, etc.

The Hawaiian statue of limitations being a month away - who knows, who cares. Like others said, Singer's only damnation will come from whether he had an actual relationship/familiarity with that registered sex offender. If he did, that's something that'll follow him and jeopardize his career indefinitely. This? This is a money grab, fame whore, who, despite Hawaii's statute, I still say likely blackmailed Singer to appear in Days, was ignored, and sued.

does having sex with a teen boy really negate the sometimes awesome movies he puts out? my answer...no.

The only thing worse than raping an underage kid is Superman Returns.
