I get what you're saying and agree to an extent. I think maybe what I mean is... more so in that movie, he showed me something I never had seen from him before. Those fight scenes, the intensity and pain in his eyes, that to me was Leo on a whole nother level. And because of that it was memorable for me. TWoWS yes he was good, great, awesome, entertaining... but in a way... maybe I've seen this from him to a degree in certain other roles? Idk.

I would love to see Leo give a subtle, nuanced performance. Every time I see him he's brooding so intensely that I expect the vein in his forehead to start spurting blood.

Also... Jonah Hill was fantastic in this. I know a lot some of the typical Jonah made its way into this performance... but it was so fucking good. Definitely a Pesci equivalent. And Bernthal... man... I felt like he really WAS spot on. Everyone was just so good.

Hill was great and proves exactly why he deserved the MB nod. and i wish there was more Bernthal in the movie. he was terrific.

To be fair, Quentin Tarantino, James Cameron, Martin Scorsese-these are not filmmakers famous for subtly.
It terrifies me that this exists, but apparently The Wolf of Wall Street lags behind some other movies. I just read the Wikipedia entry for Gutterballs, I'm seriously going to have nightmares. Curiosity really is dangerous. Fuck me.

i think End of Watch has a higher fuck per minute ratio, as that is said over 300 times in a 109 min movie.

Saw it. Really liked it overall, but they could have easily cut 30 minutes from this and it would have still been coherent and a lot tighter of a movie. DiCaprio seems to have set himself up as Scorsese's new DeNiro, and Jonah Hill came across like he was trying to be the Joe Pesci character. The movie kind of had the feeling of the fall of a Roman emperor. The party scenes definitely recalled those scenes, and Hill was playing the role of

This was great. Had a very classic Scorsese vibe and I felt it had a similar feel to Goodfellas structure wise only with stock brokers rather than mafia members. DiCaprio was excellent and Jonah Hill has really stepped up his game between this and Moneyball. Surprising as I never expected much from him and wasn't a big fan but he's growing on me more in roles like those two films.

I will say that this movie seemed like a mixture of Wall Street and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Definitely Scorsese's funniest effort . I was :: during the lude scene at the country club.
