Whoa. Depending on early you want to go...sure...maybe. De Niro had a very strong length of time with being at the top of his game. Most actors don't get that. I don't even think DiCaprio has been blessed with the amount of quailty material that De Niro had in certain time span.

i didn't want to bring up GFPt. II but yeah... damn that production design for young Vito's story. I could have watched a young Vito film with De Niro at time doing it all in italian and I would have been happy.
I remember watching that film for the first time. Not knowing wtf happened in it. Yeah, I was quickly overwhelmed by the awesomeness of that story.

I regret never getting Mean Streets when it first came out on BD. $4.99 at Amazon. Ugh. Stupid decision to not buy it.

Leo was great as per usual... But I think his best performance was in Revolutionary Road. I feel like he showed something on another level with that.

Please stop...all this talk of early De Niro makes me want to cry in sorrow over his later career.

And it doesn't get much better with Grudge Match, trust me... lol. Both he and Pacino I wish would've handled these last 15+ yrs like Danial Day Lewis... very selective, one movie a year, etc.. but the bills must be paid I guess.

Saw this tonight. It was a damn good movie. Haven't stopped thinking about it. DiCaprio was amazing. He deserves an Oscar, but Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) and Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club) are probably front runners.
I'm guessing that was the real Jordan Belfort that introduced Leo in the very last scene?
Anyway it was terrific in every way, a sure fire awards contender. I'm still not sure I like it more than Gravity, Mud, or Dallas Buyers Club though. (Still want to see "Her" and "Inside Llewyn Davis").
I thought this was a great year for movies.

Interesting that always seems to happen each year, but never until the last three months.

Not sure what you're implying. I looked back at my posts in the last 3 rank em threads and definitely think this year has been better than the past 3. Just my humble opinion...

Random thought, but didn't Goodfellas hold the record for most use of the word "fuck" at some point? I have to believe WoWS surpassed whatever that number is.

Jordan Belfort is the most I've ever believed Leo Dicaprio as a character. I was 100% SOLD that he was Jordan Belfort. Same goes for Jonah Hill. He made me believe.
I don't know if I'll be able to watch Wall Street again without falling asleep. Wolf of Wall Street is Wall Street on cocaine, both figuratively and literally.
Leo and Matthew McConaughey are my 2 leading choices for Best Actor Oscar. Chiwetel Ejiofor was really good in 12 Years a Slave, but I wasn't crazy about the movie.
I could have probably watched another 90 minutes of WOWS. Quickest 3 hours i've ever spent watching a movie.

Michael Shannon's bit part made that movie. I never felt DiCaprio's performance was anything memorable. That whole movie was just Oscar fluff.
