Look at this dumb bitch.
Complaining that the movie's glorifying the characters' actions, completely oblivious to the fact that it's an absolute indictment of them, their types and the system in place that allows them to thrive.
Oh, maybe that's because she hasn't even seen the movie...
It's like reading a movie review from someone who hasn't seen the movie their reviewing.

People are allowed to freely espouse opinions and criticism about art, and are under no obligation to agree with my opinion, the popular opinion, or much of anything else. But I have very, very, very little patience for the "I haven't seen it but" argument in much of any context about much of anything.

It's definitely up there. I know I'm in the minority, but I think The Departed is also among his best. (And yes, I know it's a remake.)
Regardless though, someone forgot to tell the dude that he's 71 years old and shouldn't be making movies this electrifying. He made American Hustle look like amateur hour.

Her grievances are legit but her opinion of what the film is? Aren't legit.
Sucks to have been her when turns out your dad is a crook like that. But her accusations of the film are horseshit. It doesn't promote the actions or make them admirable.

It certainly makes it more appealing when the lead is played by Leonardo DiCaprio, scenes of criminality and debauchery are accompanied by a great soundtrack, and after stealing $110 million the character only does 3 years in prison and is then free again, having become a motivational speaker.

It's like a mob victim not wanting to see Goodfellas. I guess.

Oh, yeah, he totally deserves blame. Since you know, actors choose parts strictly on moral grounds, not because it might be interesting to play a certain character.

Jordan Belfort posted this to both of his Facebook pages (personal and fan page).
He could be full of shit, but if he's not lying, at least that's something...

I think it would be a good topic for conversation, but I can totally see someone thinking that the movie glorifies the characters and lifestyles presented in this movie as there is no balance and very little consequence shown in the movie. I do not personally agree with it, but I think that is a very accurate view of the film from a certain standpoint.

Loved this movie, thought it was one of Scorsese's best movies ever.
The 3 hrs just flew by.
Now, what do you think this movie's Oscar chances are? I imagine it will be nominated for several Oscars, not sure if it win in the bigger categories like Best Picture. I'm guessing the more conservative mbrs of the Academy might be put off by this picture's naughty language and nudity and vote for a more "feel good" flick like Gravity.

The Wolf of Wall Street is just bravado filmmaking. Interesting that Scorsese worked with a dp he had never worked with before. Were Deakins and Richardson busy? Rodrigo Prieto isn't on their level but it almost felt like a conscious effort to be less showy (at least by MS standards). Make no mistake, you're getting trademark Scorsese flair it's just a little grittier.
Also, material is tough. Belfort is an unlikable scumbag for the most part. He is screwing over people who can't afford to be screwed over. DiCaprio - and frankly almost the entire cast - killed it though. He made you pull for the character despite his ugliness; you did not want to see him get caught nor did you want to see the party end. Really a testament to DiCaprio's skill as an actor and Scorsese's skill as a director.
