It was trite and silly and lacking in the kind of originality and energy of their other movies. Frankly, I couldn't even finish it (and I looove Bonnie Hunt). It was a massive step down in quality compared to films like Nemo, Up, The Incredibles, etc.

However, as others have pointed out, Brave also would seem to contend legitimately for the title of "worst Pixar ever". I didn't bother to watch it so I guess you can put a big * next to my original opinion.

You know how I can tell it's a mail plane?
Spoiler:
It's got little balls.

Toy Story 3 sure looks like the last great Pixar movie.

3 questions and no spaces between the question marks? Here, let me fix that for you.

Tangled was Disney's last good animated movie. I had no intention of watching it but my niece wanted to watch it and it kept her quiet, it wasn't bad.

Must have seen Tangled 15 times since it's release. My favorite Disney / Pixar movie to date. It has everything going for it...great story, characters, heart, and wonderful music. The CG animation almost made it look like a bright 2D cartoon, it was that well done.

As for Planes, you can lump that junk right next to Cars and Cars 2.

So did the little vehicle built for aviation conquer his fear of heights, the suspense is killing me.

I don't think he does, actually. That plot point is forgotten about about midway through.

(Tangled && Wreck-It Ralph) >>> (Pixar after TS3) || (Dreamworks after How To Train Your Dragon)

I really hope Frozen continues that streak. I've been very impressed with Disney Animation lately.

I heard Cars 2 was their weakest effort. Although I was pretty disappointed by Brave.

Re: Planes ? Seriously ?

Funny that Planes is part of "Disney Toon Studios" so not considered one of their animated classics. Didn't realize Disney separated so many of these things, some which had theatrical releases. Yeah, I know Planes was meant to be direct to video.

But yeah, Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph were great.

I'm betting the sequel will at least be released DTV. Even if Planes has poor box office, the tie-in merchandising and home video release will make the film profitable and a sequel feasible.

Interesting bit in the Wikipedia article about the film:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planes:...cue#Voice_cast
Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Rochelle, a racing plane. Originally from Quebec, her flag and paint job will be localized in 11 countries.
I'm guessing her character is bland enough to make this localization possible.

You didn't recognize Brent Mustangburger from Cars 2?

It's probably for dubbing purposes. Show the movie in Spain, she's a Spanish plane. Show it in China, she's a Chinese plane. Et cetera.

Right, which means there's nothing besides her voice and paint job that notes her nationality/ethnicity. Contrast that with the Mexican plane, El Chupacabra, which from the trailer appears to act like a Mexican stereotype instead of just looking/sounding like one.

Re: Planes ? Seriously ?

Cars 2 is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. It just doesn't aspire to much. It was simply Mater's Tall Tales: The Movie. I was honestly surprised it wasn't bookended by scenes of Mater telling the story of the movie to Lightning.

That's because your 3-year-old wasn't even born when CARS came out.

Too Much Larry the Cable Guy in Cars 2.

When Dan Cook is stepping in for Jon Cryer, who dropped out, then it must suck.

Re: Planes ? Seriously ?

Planes has now grossed more than the Lone Ranger and is almost at 90 million domestic and more than 200 million world wide. Not bad for a DTV movie.
