Re: What changes would you make to a movie?
The whole idea of the film is that Batman is just a symbol and that any man with the drive to do good and make a difference can be him. That's why he left the instructions to the Batcave for Blake to find so that in the case Batman was ever needed he could take the mantle over. It might not be something that comic book Bruce Wayne would do but for this particular version of Batman I thought it worked well. In some respects I view this Batman more like an elseworld's version.

So, yeah, Bruce should have either died or taken on the Alfred role (who himself should have been killed by Bane, to make Bruce suffer even more) after Blake inherited the cave.

I hope Wayne bequeathed him money or something, because the way Batman destroys equipment...the existing supplies alone would only last so long.

I get passing the torch to a more able bodied man. But, if Bruce was still alive (even the Bruce Wayne of the Nolanverse), he would have taken on a mentor role to John Blake, similar to the role of old Bruce Wayne as mentor to Terry McGinnis in Batman Beyond.

Batman became a symbol, but only to be replaced by another symbol, one that was so sacred they couldn't reveal the truth about him for fear that it would shatter the public's trust, as well as releasing all the criminals back to the streets. Batman and Gordon engaged in a cover, up, instead of trusting the citizens, which allowed people like Bane and Talia to exploit this corruption for their own ambitions. That's the problem when people put all their faith in one person/one symbol/belief to solve all the problems instead of looking to themselves to help make a difference.

By all means the film isn't perfect but it's things like this I think people look too much into. The film ended and didn't give us a real idea of what would happen next. We're just left to make some assumptions. For all we know maybe Blake does train after the film ends. Also I would think with the stockpile of equipment Lucius had he'd be able to equip him or at least help him start.

Chris Tucker is the reason I went from liking The 5th Element to loathing it. Not even Jar Jar ruins a movie like that character.
Once while I was watching Attack of the Clones, I started mentally removing every time Hayden Christensen said "m'lady". It drastically improved the dialogue.
If someone gave me 100 grand and a red pen, I could have fixed those prequels.

Much disagreement to be had. The sacrifice still counts. I don't believe that the robot knew that he would come back at the end. Nor did any of the humans think he would come back at the end.

I'll take a crack at one of my Top 10 All-Timers : I love just about everything about Almost Famous (referring to the Untitled Bootleg Cut of course -- the version that has more time to breathe and ends up being a lot more poignant to Penny; if that was the version released, Kate Hudson would have won that Oscar). There's just one thing I wish I could haves changed : I wish to God they hadn't cast Jimmy Fallon as the big-time manager. I'm not even filled with hate for the guy the way so many are in this forum, but he was so wrong and distracting in the role. When he broke out the Mick Jagger moves & gag about him not prancing around when he's fifty, it felt like such a self-aware joke -- totally different in theme to everything else in the movie. I don't mind the idea of casting a comedian in that role, just not him. Imagine for a moment if Ben Stiller was cast instead and he played a version similar to his character in Reality Bites. He could have brought the slickness and snarkiness to that role without it being jokey. When he delivered the line about hitting a man and driving away without knowing if he was alive or dead, it wouldn't have felt like an SNL sketch. Simple change and it would fix the only glaring flaw in the film.

I would get $5B together and force Peter Jackson to film and splice every moment of The Middle Earth books into one 50 hour movie.

Mark me down with the "Chris Tucker was perfectly cast for Fifth Element" camp. The part was supposed to be obnoxious, annoying and over the top. Tucker succeeded with flying colors.

Doesn't matter. They had a perfect ending and mucked it up by making it too family friendly.

Add me to this list as well. It was an inspired casting choice and Tucker absolutely nailed it.

Christ, that part is an embarrassment.

But I don't like obnoxious, annoying and over the top characters. Especially when the movie was already skating on thin ice with regards to the tone. When he came on I just said fuck it, this movie is duuuuumb.

I'll back Tucker as well. I'll admit that the first time I saw the movie, Tucker grained on me, but on subsequent viewings he fits in fine. After the "gimme the cashhhhhh" scene, anything goes.

Your post reminded me of the one thing I can't stand about the otherwise perfect Almost Famous. I loath the "gag" near the end when they think the plane is going down and the one guy blurts out "Fuck it, I'm gay" only to have (ho-ho) the plane not going down after all, and then the guys is looking around all embarrassed because (hee-haw) he admitted he was gay for no reason! Ha ha, what a dope!
Christ, that part is an embarrassment.

And yeah the Fifth Element is goofy as Hell from the get go. Chris Tucker isn't even the dumbest part of the movie. That said, I've always liked it and Tucker fits perfectly with the rest of the movie.

Re: What changes would you make to a movie?
I can see that I guess but in all honesty it didn't bother me that much. For all we know maybe he did leave instructions on how Blake is able to contact himself or possibly Alfred or Lucius if need be. I'm guessing there was more left behind than what we saw just because it wasn't necessarily shown. I would think Bruce left him instructions of some sort other than just how to get to the Batcave.

What the flying fuck is wrong with you people? Tucker was one of the best parts for that The Fifth Element. I don't like those type of characters but goddamn was that character perfect for the film.
