Rush Hour (1998): A friend of mine was over, so we decided to watch this. For every laugh that came out of me, I felt like the Antichrist.
Renaissance (2006): Overall story is a bit average, but visuals and voice acting (I watched the English Audio) were top-notch. There is a part of me that wishes the film adaptation of Sin City was done in this visual style. Love the ending to this film!

THE AMERICAN
i blind bought the blu-ray (something i rarely do) and have zero regrets. a beautifully shot slow burn character study of a hitman with a wonderfully tense last 20 minutes. i regret having waited so long to see this as it might have ended up on my top 10 for 2010.

Total Recall (2012)...what a terrible movie this was. and what is with all the light bursts on screen. every frakking minute another solar flare of light. very distracting and annoying, not that the lack thereof would have saved this piece of garbage. just downright bad.

Rented Looper
Maybe I need to watch it again, but it didn't really click with me. Thought the plot was a little overly convoluted.

Maximum Conviction - Stars Steven Seagal and Steve Austin. Terrible acting, lame plot but kind of fun in a way...

This Is 40 (2012): I enjoyed both Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann as leads, but not so much the rest of the film. Thought it was another miss for Apatow as the film ends up pretty middle of the road. At least it was better than Funny People!

I know that this movie is pretty much panned everywhere you see it reviewed but my wife and I watched Battlefield Earth (for the 3rd time all told) night before last. Regardless of the fact that if you really think about it there are numerous things wrong with the story-line in this movie, not to mention that it felt rushed to me, but when the movie was over and the credits were rolling, both of us agreed that we enjoyed and were entertained by Battlefield Earth yet again, which is really the only thing that matters. -kd5-

At least it looked gorgeous... A bit on the boring side. Despite there being only a few main characters, they all felt underdeveloped. Hardy was great, although he was hard to understand at times. Guy Pearce was such a laughably bad cartoon villain that I almost felt bad for him. WTF?
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
I had not seen this in, oh, at least a decade. I forgot how insanely ridiculous the entire film is, and that works wonderfully in its favor because it's so damn fun. Winter & Reeves were perfectly cast.

Excision (2012): Outside of some interesting visuals, I thought the film was tremendously boring. The ending feels like it comes out of nowhere, mostly because the film just glides by in snooze mode previous to it.

The Collection (2012): I was a fan of the first film, so I was pretty excited to finally see this. Lots of gory fun and it never overstayed it's welcome. It's too bad that PG/PG-13 Horror seems to do light years better at the Box Office than Hard-R Horror. I want more!

Sinister (2012): I liked Ethan Hawke and I loved the sketchy Super 8 films. Enjoyed the first half, didn't care for the second.

Anatomy of a Murder
Other than being filmed near where I grew up, a young George C. Scott, and Duke Ellington's score, there wasn't much to like about this plodding "classic".

I don't know how or why I missed this when it came out, considering it's set during the eponymous character's freshman year in high school; and this film was released in Sept. 1995, which is when I entered my own freshman year. Just flat out loved it. Really great coming of age film with a good cast and some great gags. I'd love to see all the deleted footage, which I've read is considerable.

Il pistolero dell'Ave Maria (Forgotten Pistolero)
Spaghetti Western with soap opera-ish elements, but it still works. Very recognizable theme music, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was recycled by this time.
