Disagree. It was highly entertaining and very underrated. Thought the Reacher character very engaging. Movie was well-down and worth seeing again. I want it in my collection.

Puss in Boots (2011)
Quite a surprise to me. Storyline was actually quite dark and I was floored by the beauty of the entire beanstalk/cloud sequence.

Youngblood (1978)
Made at the tail-end of the blaxploitation movement (Which would explain it's gritiness that lots of blaxpos don't really have) Loved the WAR soundtrack!

Iron Sky (2012): Goofy as hell but I enjoyed most of it. It was always pretty interesting visually. Wasn't a fan of Christopher Kirby's character though.

Just watched Pitch Perfect (2012) with the wife. Pretty good show. Enjoyed the songs, but could have done without the Bumper character.

Heavyweights

This might just be my favorite Ben Stiller film. The humor flows quickly, with almost all of the jokes working better than most might expect. Having Apatow and Feig involved was key.

The Campaign, thought it was pretty funny. Ran out of a little steam at the end but enjoyed it overall. When it drops below $10.00 I may pick it up on blu.

Django Unchained. Good, not great. Certainly not a Spaghetti Western...not that it was trying to be.....or at least, I hope it was not trying to be one.

Texas Chainsaw (2013): Outside of Alexandra Daddario's hotness and solid FX by Nicotero & Berger, the film was not fun.

Re: Last movie you watched

The Vow: I love Rachel McAdams as much as the next guy, but my god this film was terrible. We're supposed to believe that by losing five or so years of her memory that her personality would be that drastically different? "I'm artistic? I don't eat meat? My only friends are a bunch of douchey hipsters?" I'd go running back to my parents house too. Channing Tatum looks dumb as a post and routinely slips into his Marky Mark blaccent. I swear, in one of the deleted scenes he even says "Man, f*ck y'all!" when his quirky bohemian posse try to intervene in his personal life. Sam Neill and Jessica Lange are completely wasted in supporting roles. Scott Speedman plays the stereotypical skeezy ex-fiancÚ trying to worm his way back into McAdams life. Call me cynical, but this whole movie is a generic piece of junk on every level.

Texas Chainsaw 3D

Gets my vote as one of the worst horror movie sequels ever.

The Town

Good movie that falls just short of great. Good way to spend a couple hours, but ultimately lacking some polish in the script department to make it truly special. Affleck's direction was solid though. Had some great shots of Boston.

Re: Last movie you watched

Cloud Atlas: This film seemed to polarize a lot of the critics, but it was definitely a unique experience for me. All six stories could have been the basis for decent standalone films, but I'm still pondering how they fit into a "grand design". Discrimination seemed to be a factor in each chapter (be it race, sex, orientation, age), but I'm not sure if there is a greater subtext that I'm missing. The "Neo-Seoul" sections were the most captivating in the entire film. My biggest complaint would be the varying degrees of success in using prosthetics to transform the actors into other characters -- specifically Caucasian to Asian and vice versa. Tom Hanks' characterizations were so broad in some of the stories that I felt like I was watching an old Tracey Ullman special (and those teeth!). The "future speak" dialect in the last story was an annoyance at best and it was definitely the most puzzling section of the film. I'm still not sure what Hugo Weaving's character was meant to represent.

Django Unchained - I wanted to like it much more than I actually did. It wasn't bad or anything but it's easily my least favorite Tarantino flick. Maybe I'll enjoy it more on multiple viewings..
