Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
So you know, in this thread, you have to comment a little on the films you watch. Briefly or in lenght as you wish, but not just title dropping. There's another thread if you just want to name film titles. The idea here is that it encourages discussion between members a little. Thanks.
Great Fassbinder by the way!

Gretel & Hansel (2020)
Narrative is a bit casual and the film doesn't necessarily re-invent this folklore tale.
Loved the atmosphere, soundtrack, set-pieces & character design.

Skyfall (2012) — Great theme song and a much more balanced movie compared to Quantum of Solace, and the story is well written, revealing Bond's background and the motherly relationship with M (contrast with a more antagonistic portrayal in the Brosnan series). Javier Bardem as the villain was fantastic, almost Joker like in his planning. The only setback is the finale, sure some nice action and explosions but not quite as thrilling versus Casino Royale. Still, one of the better in the Bond series overall. ****/*****

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
A bit slow to start but this film is still one of my favorites in the entire Bond Franchise.
I love the focus on Bond as a character, rather than being overwhelmed with gadgetry. Also appreciate the various (and creative) chase scenes in the film.
Fantastic performances by George Lazenby, Diana Rigg & Telly Savalas.

Uncut Gems (2019) — Decent enough drama with Adam Sandler, though really found his character a bit too obnoxious to really care about though the ending was well done and surprisingly thrilling, but I have no problem with Sandler not getting a nod, I have seen him do better work (Punch Drunk Love for instance). Still, worth checking out even if it is a bit on the lengthier side for what it is. ***½/*****

Maybe I was distracted the first time in 2014 but I liked it better after the second viewing.
It seemed like eons ago when Hader and Wiig were on SNL and those were the mid 2000's to early 2010's or 2012.

The performances from Lazenby, Rigg & Savalas are too good to ignore and the second half of the film is a ton of fun.
I was disappointed by Spectre too and was going to re-watch that one soon, as (like you) I have been re-watching Bond films as of late.
Skyfall (2012)
Love this film.
The dynamic between Craig, Dench & Bardem.
Probably has one of my favorite Bond Themes of all-time.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for the Bond charm and his getting all the babes (lucky bastard!) but in this particular one it was akward and not at all suave and gentlemanly.

I am all in for Marc Maron to have leading roles or something close to that.
His former girlfriend Lynn Shelton directed it.

Dredd (2012)
When I need a fun & violent Action film that doesn't overstay its welcome, I always find myself reaching for this one on most days.
Great performances from Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby & Lena Headey.
Shame this didn't do well at the Box Office. Would have loved to see the Dark Judges get interpreted in this Cinematic World.

Had to a big Brian Dennehy double feature and went with F/X and F/X2. Such fun and suprisingly violent films. It's like McGuyver and Mission:Impossible by way of a special effects make-up artist. The funny part is that part 2 is rated PG-13, but has tons of graphic kills. What I noticed is that they dubbed over some of the profanity. I totally noticed a scene where a character clearly mouths the words "don't fuck with me" but the dubbed audio said "don't fool with me."
Damn, these are fun films!

Watched this with the family last night. Hadn't seen it since the fancy Signature Series DVD first came out. Pretty flawed and somewhat dated movie, but still fun. Feels a little like Deadwood which came out after but I saw more recently. What an amazing cast of guys though. Like the sets a lot and the world building. And you never go wrong with Sam Elliott in a Western.
Highlight of the movie for me : When my 13 year old son recognized Michael Rooker.
Son : That means both of Starlord's dads are in this!

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) — Decent enough entry, a little slow at times and while some effects weren't bad for its time, others were a bit iffy (not to mention some shoddy editing a time or two). I did like George Lazenby in the role (and at certain angles, kind of did look like Connery), as he did have some charm (although his quips didn't quite work for me), just a shame this was a one and done for him. The movie is on the lengthy side, probably 15 minutes could've been trimmed, though Lazenby and Diana Rigg shared great chemistry which does make the ending work so well. ***½/*****

I watched it couple of weeks ago and I agree with you. Nothing original at all but is somewhat entertaining that you don't feel like you wasted your time. I did like the back and forth between Spencer and his Ex.

The Other Lamb (2020)
While I'm a sucker for any film involving Cults, Małgorzata Szumowska's film is extremely light on character development and a bit derivative of films within the same Genre.
Beautiful Cinematography which captures the set-pieces well.
It's a brisk 97-minutes but won't contain too much you haven't already seen before.

Smokin' Aces (2006) — Sometimes wild, sometimes eratic action-thriller that boasts a great cast and decent action, but in the end, this wasn't a Carnahan movie that really did it for me. **¾/*****
The Living Daylights (1987) — Great entry into the series and wonderful debut for Dalton who was charming, and for me far and away better than any of Roger Moore's movies (though found some of his to be entertaining enough). Not all that fond of this theme song but still catchy enough I suppose. Also features some great aerial stuntwork. ***¾/*****

I enjoyed it
This is not Randall from This is Us. Lucas Hedges another good actor was also in it.
It felt like two movies combined in one though the first story was more interesting than the second.
Don't watch if you have issues in the family or maybe watch and be glad your family is not like that.

Weird watching a Christmas movie in April though kind of nice to think of happier times and Christmas
I liked the people involved but kind of a disappointment and not LOL funny.
It was not horrible but could have been a lot better
Spoiler:
If you are a George Michael Fan you get a lot of his songs in this movie.
