Watched Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald this evening. In spite of it being a little confusing in places, we were entertained by it. Too bad they had to fuck up the extended version by making it some kind of "Redeem Online" crap. We don't download or stream movies.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Batman: Hush...a weaker entry in the DC animated universe. Not totally awful, but romance, weak villain and twist made it yet another forgettable DC animated movie.

It works better on TV but nothing you should pay to see in the theater

You Were Never Really Here (2017) 3.0/5
Screen adaption of an American novella, written and directed by Scottish-born Lynne Ramsay. An ex-FBI agent with a tormented past (Joaquin Phoenix) who earns his living rescuing trafficked girls finds himself caught up in a larger conspiracy after he rescues a Senator's daughter from a child prostitution ring.
The artwork bears the Rotten Tomatoes "Certified Fresh" seal based on the film's 88% rating by Approved Tomatometer Critics. The 64% overall audience score indicates others were not as enthused about the film.

Stan et Ollie (2018)
Disappointing biopic of the duo's last years after their star had waned and they were forced back onto the theater circuit rehashing their old material. Not bad by any means but lacks something (warmth?) to make it a good biographical drama.

Taxi (1998)
Before Fast & Furious, there was Luc Besson's testosterone-fueled car chases-filled comedy Taxi about a wannabe race car driver who passes the time as a cabby. When a nerdy police inspector hires him to help capture a gang of German bank robbers, he gets his chance to prove his valor on the road.
Not very intellectual, nor particularly tightly written but works well as a family entertainment on a summer night.

The Misfits (1961)
Depressing look at a group of misfits who try to make sense of their life in a changing world. Gable and Clift were good as the cowboys who cling to their liberty and refuse to work wages but Marilyn Monroe was annoying as the bombshell who wants to find love and only finds sex. Sadly her and Gable's last film if I recall correctly.
With that cast and John Huston directing, the alcool tab on the shoot must have been something else!

Child's Play 3 (1991)
Risable. Personally I think that's the worst franchise (I know of) in horror history.

Deux hommes dans la ville (1973) (Two men in the city)
Tough crime drama written and directed by ex-convict Jose Giovanni. Basically a critical charge against the death penalty that was still on in France in the 70s. Sometimes dated but still powerful if a bit preachy.
An old prison employee who teaches convicts about the morals of society vouches for one of his pupils to get him released. The young killer seems to have reformed after his 10 years inside. But a police inspector thinks it's all a front and harasses him unjustly until he will kill again...

Anna (2019)
Stupid and unoriginal Luc Besson thriller about Russian druggy/mannequin who acts as contract killer for the KGB. When the CIA turns her, things get complicated for her and she must play both sides to earn her liberty. Full of cliches, silly dialogues and already seen double and triple twists. Some much better ones in the genre out there. (Layer Cake for one, In Bruges, etc.)

Picasso Trigger (1988) — Some okay spots and deaths plus a few very lovely ladies (Roberta Vasquez especially), but too many dull spots to make it a completely entertaining B-movie. 2.25/5

I have an old 12 movie DVD set of those movies that I got for about 12 bucks that features all those movies. I don't think I could pull the trigger and upgrade to BD for them.

Oh wow, so you're actually getting BD review copies of the Andy Sidaris T&A skin flicks from the 80s and 90s.

I haven't owned any of them and outside of seeing videos on YouTube (like RLM's Best of the Worst), was not familiar with Sidaris' "work", so this is a new experience for me. Will be watching Savage Beach tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Savage Beach (1989) — Fourth "installment" in the Andy Sidaris series, Savage Beach was pretty bland in terms of good bad elements but he did up the ante in T&A. I was mostly bored throughout and even started dosing off a little during the exposition scene towards the end. Not wholly terrible though the acting was terrible (no surprise) and lacked many laugh-out-loud moments. 2.0/5

Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) — Fun sequel with plenty of action and the teamwork between Gibson and Glover was great. Joe Pesci was fine but kind of got a bit annoying. Still highly entertaining all these years later. 3.75/5

I thought Spade would be the main character but he was in a supporting role.
It was ok to pass the time but not LOL funny.

Still holds up, IMO. It's a shame this one didn't get more attention when it came out.

Domino (2019) — Calling this a second-rate thriller is an insult to second-rate thrillers. While, from what I read, Brian De Palma experienced problems making the movie (mostly with funding), still doesn't excuse such a poorly made movie with, at best, so-so acting (Guy Pearce in particular was bad), shoddy writing and a hasty ending. I will say, it wasn't boring and there were a few unintentionally funny scenes, but boy De Palma has taken a step back. 1.5/5
