Re: The One and Only Bruce Willis Thread

Action legend Bruce Willis comes out with guns blazing as Shane Mueller, a Homeland Security agent who runs the Wire Room, a high-tech command center surveilling the most dangerous criminals. New recruit Justin Rosa (Kevin Dillon, “Entourage”) must monitor arms-smuggling cartel member Eddie Flynn — and keep him alive at all costs. When a SWAT team descends on Flynn’s home, Rosa breaks protocol and contacts the gangster directly to save his life. As gunmen break into the Wire Room and chaos erupts, Mueller and Rosa make a final, desperate stand against the corrupt agents and officials who seek to destroy evidence and kill them both.

A Kevin Dillon led movie guest starring Bruce Willis.

There is a streaming deal starting today, I thought I'd mention it in here for those wanting to collect these Bruce Willis B movies for cheap (3 for $10)

I honestly don't think I've heard of a single one of those movies. Absolutely remarkable to me that a movie star of Willis' stature could do so much under the radar work, especially since he did not have any known tax problems. I guess he wanted to make sure the three ugly daughters he had with Demi Moore were taken care of.

Na, just a debilitating brain disease.

I would not go so far as to call them gross, just especially unattractive considering who their mother is.

To be precise, your comment is gross.

I'd side with not ugly.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I see too much of their dad's face looking back at me.

There’s an entire thread dedicated to all those Bruce Willis movies around here somewhere.

Since there's a thread opened for just about every movie anyone even thinks about making, I don't read them all.

I too was somewhat confused why he would habitually take on all these crap B movie roles, but in hindsight I bet he knew his time was short and he wanted to grab the cash while he could. Can't say I blame him now in retrospect at all.

Given I've gotten most of those for review, I've heard (and seen) the majority of them.

I'd think he earned enough money to last for him and his family for two lifetimes full of luxury. If not he definitely had a spending problem. Perhaps he just liked acting but knew he wasn't able to do more than this. His acting in Glass or Death Wish wasn't his best either, but the effort it takes to be the lead in a real movie is much higher than working for a day, having the lines fed to you.
I don't get the producers of those movies. He cleary was ill and they still used him to make easy money.

I didn't think anyone used this term anymore except Story to describe something...what are ya 12??

But agree the comment was inappropriate.

he did. He probably wanted to work is all. Work as much in limited time. With a $250mil net worth, I highly doubt most of that came from the b movies.

I don't know how likely it would be, considering that he has never even been nominated for an Oscar, but I would love to see him awarded an honorary Oscar in 2023, while he still (?) has the faculties to participate in the honor.

That would be cool. Probably highly unlikely, but that would be cool indeed.

Would sound like pity to me. He definitely is an icon and some of his movies are iconic, too, but if he never got sick, no one would even consider it.

That's true . . . because if he was not sick, he would not have retired from acting. His career is over, so it's appropriate to honor his completed body of work. He's certainly been more important to American movies than Peter O'Toole ever was, for an example.
The American film industry is economically driven by action movies. Action movies and kids' movies are the only things that draw crowds into theaters, and Die Hard is universally considered one of the best American action movies of all time. Also, the influence of John McClane as a character completely changed how action leads were conceived. His DNA is all over the MCU.

Like I said, he's iconic. Die Hard, 12 Monkeys, Pulp Fiction, The Sixth Sense, The Fifth Element, Armageddon and Sin City are iconic movies, but it's not his retirement, it's the reason for his retirement. That's pity not honor. Of course he's more important to American cinema than Peter O'Toole, but so is Kevin James.

I don't have anything against giving Bruce Willis an award, but an honorary Oscar at this moment would look like the Academy giving itself a pat on the back, rather than honoring an iconic actor, who might not even grasp what's going on.
