Trailer here, the dialog easier to discern in this trailer from Tilda Swinton than the others found online methinks.

If you still can't understand her:
1. Passengers! As in the beginning, I, belong to the front. You, belong to the tail. Keep your place.
2. You people, who were it not for the benevolent Wilford, would have frozen solid 18 years ago today.
3. The engine is sacred, and Wilford is divine! Wilford is merciful.

Let's hope Park guest-directed the scene where the protagonist takes an ice axe down the entire length of the train, maiming hundreds in the process.

I guess I'll have to import this one:
kimchidvd, here I come.
The Weinstein Co. Cutting ‘Snowpiercer’ Because Americans Are Stupid
Bong Joon-ho‘s Snowpiercer opened in the director’s native South Korea last week, and will continue to roll out around the world for the next couple of months. It has broken box-office records at home and is very well-reviewed across the board. But despite having a distributor in The Weinstein Co., the film has yet to announce a U.S. opening date. Now we know what the holdup is.
The notoriously scissor-happy Harvey Weinstein reportedly has plans to chop up Snowpiercer, reducing its running time by about 20 minutes. And it’s not because the film’s bloated or unwieldy. It’s because in his opinion, according to one report, Midwesterners are too stupid to understand the movie as-is. Hit the jump for more about the edits.
IF.com (via Twitch) learned of Weinstein’s plans from film critic and programmer Tony Rayns. “TWC people have told Bong that their aim is to make sure the film ‘will be understood by audiences in Iowa… and Oklahoma,’” he said. The cuts will remove much of the character work to make the film play more like a traditional action movie. In addition, voiceovers will be added to the beginning and end of the film.
The original edit runs about 126 minutes, so 20 minutes represents a very significant chunk. It’s big enough to drastically change the feel or even the message of the entire film. But presumably, that’s the idea. While the movie isn’t especially long or complicated, it is apparently very dark. Does Weinstein want to give it some of that shiny, happy Hollywood gloss? Because while he’s smart enough to see how good the movie is, he doesn’t think Iowans are.
Rayns reports that the U.K., for one, isn’t interested in having Snowpiercer watered down just because Weinstein has a low opinion of his fellow countrymen. “Leaving aside the issue of what Weinstein thinks of its audience, it seems to say the least anomalous that the rest of the English-speaking world has to be dragged down to the presumed level of American mid-west hicks,” he said.
As for us stupid American hicks, I guess we’ll be stuck waiting for the DVD/Blu-ray of the director’s cut to see Bong’s dark original vision. Weinstein’s Snowpiercer is likely to hit theaters next year.

Thanks a lot you fucking hicks.
Well, looks like I will be importing this bad boy from Hong Kong or Korea - I'm sure those will have the full uncut version.
Fuck you Weinstein.

I wonder if Harrison Ford is available to do the planned voiceovers.

Lets hope in fact it is "just a rumor" or that the backlash is so strong that Harvey releases the 124 minute cut

Maybe or maybe not. We'll have to wait and see. Then again, I'm used to Asian films subbing even the English parts. I may not like it but it's par for the course.

Absolutely but they tend to be pricier, even when you account for the fact that shipping is included in the item price.
I tend to favor dddhouse for HK stuff and kimchidvd for Korean flicks. That's not to say YesAsia hasn't gotten my money as well.

Here is what someone on IMDB said :
Most of the people that Harvey wants to make this movie more appealing to will probably most likely not even see the movie. No big stars, no based on any famous existing property, it looks too bleak, etc. Plus he's gonna alienate the people who WILL want to see this movie: fans of the genre, fans of the director, etc.

Chris Evans and Ed Harris are pretty big stars. That guy is an idiot. Bong movies are usually overlong so maybe the Weinsteins are on to something, but I seriously doubt it.

For what it's worth, in Korea the movie is shown with English subtitles for the Korean sections which are few and far apart apparently. The reasoning of course is the movie was made for English audiences to begin with since it has a massive budget (about $39.2m, highest budget S. Korean movie to date) and needed to be sold abroad.

This grossed $59,802,711 in South Korea, so even before hitting the international markets its likely close to breaking even.

I dont agree with the cut. Things like that are up to the Director, not some fat ass producer who's really not a producer, but a 'sit behind a desk and cash grab' type of guy. The guy forks over the money for a title in the credits.
