Why exactly did/do people hate 'Quantum of Solace'?

I didn't like that it was choppy, didn't flow properly, had a weak villain, terrible ending and was cheesy. There were a couple great scenes but they were very few and far apart.

Nope, I would take Die Another Day over Quantum of Solace solely because the latter pissed me off with its nonsense action which was the movie for the part.

Quantum of Solace is better than Die Another Day simply because I remember scenes from QoS, while I could've sworn I had not seen DAD until those stills were shown. Obviously repressed memories.

Nonsensical story. Glum tone. Shaky-cam action sequences. It was just a missed opportunity all around. It's far from "the worse" James Bond movie ever (thanks Internet!), but coming off of Casino Royale it was markedly disappointing. I'd rank it somewhere in the middle of the pack.

The only thing I remember about that movie was the ridiculous disappearing car.

I don't think it's that bad of a movie but I agree with a lot of the others in here that the movie could have been a lot better than it turned out to be. The villian was pretty forgettable and the story just felt like it could have been fleshed out a bit more.

I enjoyed Quantum of Solace, but I was pretty wasted when I watched it. However I was able to follow the quick-cut action scenes just fine, despite my state of inebriation. The only scene I thought was over-the-top was the jet fighter scene. Other than that I thought it was a very enjoyable follow-up to Casino Royale.
I also think Casino Royale has flaws of its own. My first issue with it is that the film is about 20 minutes too long, there are pacing issues and I always lose interest during the final act.

A good place outlining why Quantum of Shit is shitty.

Die Another Day gets a bad rap, but it has a lot of fun stuff going on, and I could always tell what was going on.

I remember it being fun w/ the action. Didn't like the movie though..it was a lot to go through. That was my first Bond film in theaters. How displeasing.

I simply do not understand people saying they can't follow the action in QoS. Seriously...I have no problems. It wasn't until I read stuff after the movie where people complained that I even gave it a second thought.
I have such a hard wrapping my head around it. It was a complete non-issue to me while watching it. I absolutely love the car chase at the beginning...that is an intense way to start the film and is just one of many great action moments in that movie.

The villain m.o. is classic Bond even if Amalric isn't exactly the most memorable of Bond baddies. it isn't about getting the evil businessman who's stealing water as much as its about Bond uncovering the web-like organization responsible for Vesper and Mathis' death and the attempt on M's life.
Die Another Day deserves all the derision it can get, and then some.

If I recall, there's a scene where Bond leaps on a speedboat to get to the boat with the Bond girl and the general, and then something happens and Bond's in the air and then he's on their boat then he and the girl are on a different boat. That sequences was definitely missing some vital components because I had no clue what was going on.

I'll eat my words here. I watched the Daniel Craig collection today and re-visiting Quantum of Solace was actually pretty enjoyable, for the most part. I hadn't seen it since the show and I didn't care for it then, because at the time I thought it was a squandered opportunity to reveal more about the Quantum organization. It does sort of conclude with what was started in Casino Royale before abruptly moving towards the Bolivia angle, which WAS, as another forum mentioned, "a day in the life of the Quantum organization."
During the action scenes, I felt like I watching a Bourne film, which didn't bother me at all. I did think Gemma Arterton was hot but her "green" disposition was a tad annoying. Olga can do no wrong and it's funny how much bronze make-up they had to use to golden her up and make her look like a South American native.
The villain was just okay but he was a worm in the grand scheme of things.
On a side note - maybe I'm blind or was smitten by her good looks - but that Bolivian assistant at the compound towards the end that gets rescued by Olga's character was not wearing panties, so when she tumbles off of the bed you can see a bit of bush. I'll have to freeze frame it next time but I'm pretty sure I got a sneak peek of some hair pie.
EDIT - that chick who played the Bolivian General's assistant was played by Oona Chaplin - she played Talissa in this past season's Game of Thrones.

Are you sure Oona Chaplin shows bush in that scene? I became instantly smitten with her when I first saw QoS so I'm surprised I never noticed that.

Okay, just checked, and it was a false alarm. She was wearing underwear.

I didn't dislike QoS of much as everyone, but I guess I'm a sucker for anything somewhat entertaining since Skyfall is my second favorite Bond film.
Maybe time will be better to it. It's not without its problems but definitely not nearly as bad as it's made out to be.
