Update on Die Hard 5

http://www.deadline.com/2011/02/noam...ct-die-hard-5/

Noam Murro -screwy- best known for directing Smart People has been hired to direct.

Skip Woods, who wrote A-Team and Wolverine, is writing the script.

Skip woods wrote Origins or The Wolverine?

Still think they should have him team up with a foreign detective in another country.

That's exactly what I was thinking...it'd be too much like RH. Minus Chris Tucker...and Brett Ratner. John McClane can do it by himself..just give him a good story and villain.

What if Jackie Chan was the villain?

Re: Die Hard 5 >> Bruce Willis (tentative 2011)

...no. It's too hard to do that now. It'd take a very good story and great direction to get the audience to not laugh at that. Plus....JC is pretty much a no for villains nowadays. When he was new and still testing the waters...sure it happened. Not now though.

Well just because Rush Hour did it doesn't mean it's a shitty dynamic; French Connection II, The Yakuza, and Black Rain all did it very well.

I think something based in Eastern Europe would be cool with Stellan Skarsgard or Christopher Weitz. Or if you just want to make it a culture clash with the surroundings and not the actors, get someone like Stallone or Kurt Russell.

Just call it Cash & Tango 2 and get John McClane in there.

Tango and Cash 2 sounds like one of the best things ever.

Call it Cash, & Tango Too!

Well, if they did a sequel, I'm sure they'd want the Cash first and foremost.

Are we taking bets yet as to whether this'll be 3D?

I'm surprised none of you are surprised by the director of this Noam Murro. Seems like an odd choice. Is anyone familiar with his work? The article mentions he directed some Halo commercials and Smart People, which I never heard of.

/\ I think the general silence over the pick of director is because of his anonymity. Had Brent Ratner been selected, the internet would be broken by now.

Actually, Noam Murro is a pseudonym of Brett Ratner's. ;)

Die Hard 5. Really?

The only thing worse than pointless remakes are film series way past their 'sell by' date. -ohbfrank-

For a sixty-two year old, she looks pretty good.

Of course, Prince of Pennsylvania Bonnie Bedelia was much better.

/\ Yeah, but put her next to Bruce Willis, and you have effectively aged him an additional 15 years.

Bruce's last onscreen wife?

Besides, Holly is out of the picture.

Bring back the artistic risk (yea, fuck you) that I saw in Die Hard 3. It was very quotable. For it's time, the 'racist' stuff was very biting. The stunts were great (as they were in all four Die Hards). The camerawork and timing was fucking great. John McTiernan knew what was up.
