OK not just me then
Just tried to use it, didnt' load any locations, it said "when you get a connection, we'll have movies for you!" I went to Regal app and saw movies instantly.
I'm ok with the blog being down but yeah I didn't think about the impact on the app. And of course calling the 800 number to get activated live would probably be a ten minute hold.

It's pretty much useless until you get your card anyway.

I don't believe the app will work until you activate the card.

All true, but I've had my card for probably 3 years. Unless they improve their infrastructure real quick, this doesn't bode well. If new members have a 12 month contract, this could work for MP (look how many members!) and not for the customers (I can't use the app!)

New members have no contract, it's basically month to month with a 12 month price guarantee.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I'm still a little leery, but I went ahead and signed up this morning.

I guess I'm going to be on a 1 month free trial before I get billed my 1st $9.95.

The website said my card should arrive in 5-7 days.

We'll see how this goes.

I would love to use this at my local Harkins theater. They have kiosks outside the theater. So I should be able to use the Mastercard on those kiosks correct? There is nothing more to it?

Where are getting the 12 month contract from?

I think he's referring to the 12 month price guarantee mentioned previously.

On the positive side, they're good about reimbursing you for a ticket if the app fucks up.

Nope, before this new deal, if you signed up and cancelled within the first year, there was a prorated cancellation fee, so he was referring to if this new deal has that contract.

Supposedly this new deal doesn't have that contract.

OK cool.

Yes, I was referring to the 12 month membership commitment/contract that was in place at one time, not the new 12 month price guarantee.

And agreed, the couple times the app screwed up, they have been good about reimbursing the cost of the ticket when I emailed them a picture of it.

Granted, most theaters aren't open yet, but I was able to see theater/film information just now on the app.

Can you sign up Multiple users on the same phone. My mom doesn't have a cell phone but would like to use moviepass.

Some people have said that an account is locked to a phone, but I haven't had any trouble logging into my account on different phones, or even switching accounts on the same phone.

I'm not sure, but I think it could be a difference between iPhone and Android. I have only ever used Android phones and haven't had any problems.

So I just signed up and installed the app and it looks like it doesn't work in any theaters in Las Vegas. Is that actually correct, or will it not tell me the theaters until I get my card? Reading above, I'm still confused.

It sucks that they won't tell you the theaters before you sign up.

You'll have to be with her though when she gets her ticket.

I've heard they used to have a system where you had to call on and authorize a new phone for an account, and you could only do it a few times a year. It seems like they did away with that for now.

People with actual experience can chime in, but here are some restrictions they used to have but did away with:
  • Only one account per phone, had to authorize a new phone by contacting them. Now it seems like you can sign out and sign in with another account easily
  • One ticket every 24 hours. So if you saw a movie at 8pm you couldn't see another until 8:01 the next day. Now it's one per day
  • Could only see a movie once. They've said they lifted that restriction now
  • After you bought a ticket, you'd have to take a picture of the stub and send it to them to verify you didn't exchange it for another movie. That seems to be gone.
  • For a short time they had limitations to the number of tickets allocated to a region. So if the allotment ran out you couldn't get a ticket in the area

That is why I'm not even going to bother. Plus, most theatres around me are AMC. And AMC is pissed about it and threatening to sue. Not worth the hassle to me, regardless of how seemingly good the deal is. But I hope others reap the benefits.

They will tell you the list if you email or chat them, and there are several supporting theatres in the LV area. I'm seeing several Regal, AMC, Century locations, and Brendan Theaters, United Artists.

Any way you can copy the list of theaters for me? I still can't find it no matter what I do -- even using the weblink someone posted above.

I'm unable to copy/paste text from the app, but some dude created an offshoot site to cache locations, hopefully this works:

So is there a catch here somehow? It seems almost like it's too good to be true. Also am I missing something or is there not a quick way to view if your theater is on their list? I'd rather not go through signing up only to find out I can't use it. I'm betting my theater won't be on there anyways.

The catch is that they'll probably jack up the price in a year, or go under due to not anticipating demand. If that's the case, I'd rather continue paying $30/month.

Doesn't show any theaters in Vegas either.

Was Santa Fe Station listed on your app? Red Rock Station theater? AMC Rainbow Promenade?

I just don't see how it can sustain itself realistically. I mean taking what's the price of one ticket for one show at matinee price (maybe) and turning it into a monthly unlimited use price doesn't add up to me.
