Yeah, I try to do the screenings, and I get notices for them, but it isn't often I can make one. Most of them are at 7PM on a weekday, and I could just barely make that, but usually not early enough to get a seat the way these things are overbooked.

In the past few weeks, MoviePass rolled back its 24-hour countdown clock to 14-hours.
The glory days are here again. Fuck the haters.

At a shitty theater and I don't have any legit IMAX screens in my area. It'll cos me more to drive and find a spot and I don't do non-reserved seating AMC's.

I think it means you only have to wait 14 hours instead of 24 to see your next movie. Although it doesn't mean much, since there aren't many (any?) open 24-hours theaters. But if you see a movie on Friday night, you don't have to wait until Saturday night to see the next one (on your pass).

I can absolutely see why the 24-hour gap would have been a problem.
Now Moviepass just needs to come to Canada.

I already pay $35 a month and have no problems paying $10 more to see IMAX, 3D, or other premiums in theaters without having to cheat the system. Hell, I'd pay more than $45 to get advanced ticketing for those theaters that have reserved seating.

I'm still using this, but something odd happened today (that I've never had happen before). I could not use my moviepass for ANY showing of Deadpool. Now, I could get a ticent by using another film, but the entire day was unavailable and said "this is not a supported screening. "

Were they playing it in IMAX at the theater you went to? IMAX wouldn't have been eligible, possible they got the listings mixed up and had all the screenings as IMAX.

I usually end up checking in for something else when that happens.

Yes, but the IMAX showing were listed separately. It wasn't the only film like this, either ... I just checked in to something else and bought my ticket

Email came out today saying due to some new business deal, it will be 9.95 for at least the next 12 months.
The blog isn't working now but it also says it on their Facebook.

So question. I know you get a card to pay for this. Can I use the card online to purchase tickets through the movie theater website? That is about the only thing that would prevent me from doing this if I can't buy online. So much easier to pick up tickets online since the are reserved seats. At $10/month, that's my sweet spot since I usually do a movie a month.

At present, I don't think so. You must physically be at the theater to check in, and if you're too far away, it will say 'you're too far away'.
I think they said one time they were working on that, but if they haven't yet, I don't see them doing it now.
One of my theaters is reserved as well and it is a minor inconvenience.

So I've seen conflicting things, but for new subscribers this is still a year long commitment, right, and not a month to month?
Also, while I think their business model of just bleeding money is insane, they were smart to introduce this right when summer break is ending. They'll get creamed next summer break, but hey who knows if they're even here by then? They have to hit those subscriber numbers to get more cash anyway.
Also, I'm sure in their TOS there's something in there that doesn't guarantee the number of theaters this works at over the span of your membership. I'm not sure if AMC will successfully block them but that's certainly one way to save some money, to limit the theaters, especially if the subscribers are locked in anyway.

Then they truly are crazy. They need those subscribers to be sustained, I have no idea how they're going to do that.
I know their other big plan is to sell advertising data based on what movies people go to, but I just don't know how they're going to monetize that. They can't possibly make that much money just on ads on their app, and other companies like google and cell phone companies have much more usage data already.
