I hated Sid and Nancy except for one, brilliant, brilliant moment at the end of the film when Oldman dances with the kids with the boombox.

the cool thing with Oldman is that you don't always recognize him, in part I think due to his range of acting ability

So, I'm going to make a poll, listing an actor's catalog of over 50 movies and put all of those films in the poll? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense

Definitely not the greatest living actor....and his career is starting to go in the direction of Val Kilmer.
My pick is Prick Up Your Ears.

My own fave Oldman performance? He's really damned good in so many different films. For me, it's a toss-up between JFK, TRUE ROMANCE, BATMAN BEGINS and Francis Ford Coppola's BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, with Dracula getting a slight edge.

I think it was more directed at you saying Oldman was the only good thing about The Dark Knight. I disagree with that, but would agree with you that that movie is way overrated.

Not the greatest, but always fun to watch, and capable of great work. My vote for best perf is Romeo is Bleeding also, (such a rich yet pulpy movie) with Sid and Nancy a close second.

It's a toss-up between True Romance and Leon: The Professional. And while I wouldn't say he is the greatest, he is immensely talented and one of my absolute favorites.

State of Grace! Gary Oldman, should have won an Academy Award for that movie, his performance was superb. State of Grace was very good movie overall.

Christian Bale is the worst Batman that I've ever seen. He's just too smarmy. The costume just looked....odd. And Michael Caine playing Alfred ? It just didn't work. Michael Caine is just too good of an actor to play such a badly written part. Watching him, you can just tell that he wants to be doing something else. Now, Michael Gough....THERE'S the perfect Alfred. I understand that since he's dead he can't play the part, but Nolan just wasn't trying. He picked an actor that he liked, even though he didn't fit the part. It was like having Bill Nye the science guy playing Alfred. Just not right. And the Batmobile was a clunky, overdesigned mess. The jet fire that came out the back was a cool nod to the past Batmobiles, but there was just no style to the new one. I sure hope that if they keep making these Batman movies, since they seem to be at the time when he starts out, he refines the Batmobile into something more sleek and streamlined. You know, more in line with the past Batmobiles. Specifically, the 1989 Batmobile or the Batmobile from the Superpowers toy line. And the Joker ? Meh. Just didn't do it for me. I just couldn't get past the horrible, smeary makeup. As far as I know, the Joker has never had his face looking like that.
