Liberal wimp turns on the violence when his wife gets raped. So, is this a new entry in the Death Wish series or what?

Mrs Danger couldn't watch the Peckinpah movie. She grew up around rednecks who were proud of their ignorance and who were always about two steps away from committing violence, but she got away. The movie was too disturbingly accurate for her to watch.

I just want to know how the rape scene was. That's the only interest I have in this flick.

I don't know if your being serious or not, but seriously your only interest is a rape scene? I hate seeing violence against women on TV/Film. Irreversible made me want to take a cold shower afterwards. I know it's just a movie, but still.

I have some free time next week, I might check this out. Never seen the original.

Sorry, I didn't mean I can't wait to see violence against women. I meant I want to know if the movie is explicit or if it wusses out. The rape scene in the original is what gave the film so much power.

He never really stayed on the shot for too long. It kept switching back and forth between the rape and a hunting scene.

Pretty powerful, but to avoid an NC-17 I'm sure it was trimmed here and there.

Gotta dig out the original to compare, but overall, I really enjoyed the remake. Not sure if that was due to the quality of the film or just finding something to pass a boring Saturday night.

Kate Bosworth plays a small town girl, where high school football ruled the day, who makes it "small" in Hollywood, but married a writer (James Marsden) and they come back to her small town to stay at her deceased father's place to do some writing and remodeling. To help with roofing a barn, they hire some former football stars who don't really have the best work ethic, and after a while the film turns into this what-if situation to "Friday Night Lights" where all the former high school football stars were truly dumb as bricks and acted like savages when opportunities present themselves. Alex Skarsgard is football jock who still has an attraction Bosworth's character (and she doesn't mind running around in the bare minimums of clothing, further stoking the fires of former flames.) James Woods is the retired football coach who thinks he's still running the football program, and he's got a daughter who has a weird attraction to the town's mentally challenged dude, and the coach is always trying to keep them apart.

Not sure what to make of this movie, as motivationally speaking, it's almost preposterous as to where the film goes in its final act, but it does feature some decent death scenes.

I give it 2 stars or a grade of C.

Too bad Rod Lurie isn't spearheading the "Thin Man" remake... he could have made damn sure there'd be NO rampant alcohol abuse in HIS movie.

Oh, and surprise buttsecks for all.

Like Supermallet I really would like to some clarification regarding the rape in the remake. The director pledged that his version, unlike the original, would not depict the woman enjoying the rape at any time. In most people's opinion it's the ambiguity regarding her feelings in this scene that is the crux of the entire film and that the director's intention to change this detail basicly changes the entire point of the film.

So, I ask of those of you that have seen the remake, does the female character at first enjoy the rape?

Uhm I just saw this remake. My question is
Spoiler:
what happened to the guy who killed the girl? Did he just get knocked out in the bedroom while they took care of the bad guys?
