I wouldn't have clapped for that teaser. It was like an episode of The Deadliest Catch. It takes more than a CGI man flying to get people's attention nowadays.

It was a good trailer till they showed him in that cape and flying. Too faggy!

They do. Then there are those that let the marketing department do all the work.

It's a bit technical.

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)

I think the trailer is very effective. You get those images and you don't know what you're really looking at or for till maybe that little kid running w/ the cape and posing in that stance.

Jor-El's voice-over takes about the purpose and the reaction of his existence here will be. Pa Kent's is about, as I said before, becoming that man. The hardest thing that individual has to decide on.

On the subject of Pa Kent's voice-over, I thought a bit about this yesterday.Yeah, I don't think I could become that man. I just...couldn't. I could see the want to help but..the stress of it. The fear of failure being so great. That's a lot of pressure to decide to be in. Greater than any man on this planet could be involved in. He's not a man from this planet though. He's being forced into this destiny into being who he will be and he's got to accept it. Again..great stuff. You really get the sense of love from Pa Kent's voice-over.

Looks like this is 1978 all over again. I'm optimistic about this movie so far, because i mean why the cynicism. His rogues gallery needs an update however which has been frankly sucky, maybe the Toyman this time.

I thought it was a great teaser. Love the color tones. Has an epic feel to it, like Batman Begins.

Isn't it a good thing that trailers are getting away from that though (making people feel the need to clap)? watch the batman begins teaser again...it's nothing special at all either.

What? Superman has one of the best rogues gallery in comics. Only Batman, Spider-Man, and Flash are really comparable.

Lex Luthor
Zod
Bizarro
Brainiac
Darkseid
Intergang
Metallo
Doomsday
Cyborg Superman
Mongul
Mxyzptlk
Parasite
Prankster
Toyman
Silver Banshee

I wouldn't be surprised if this move unfolds similar to Batman Begins. We might start with Clark Kent somewhere as an adult having adventures and then get slow bits of his past, including Krypton and Jor-El through flashback .

i would argue that Flash has a great and vast rogues gallery but not one as comparable to the others. I was going to put in the X-Men as a good replacement for him but that's a team. Ditto for FF. They've better foes than Flash. Though...I really like the Flash as well.

I would love to see someone other than Lex Luthor or Zod. Metallo would be excellent since I would assume Hollywood would want someone to go toe to toe with Superman. It seems like his story would take no time to set up plus Superman would actually have to use his brain to defeat him since he has a Kryptonite power source. I would love to see Mxyzptlk also but there's so many ways to fuck him up in a movie plus the one liners have a strong chance of being "super" corny.

I thought he was talking in general since the movies haven't shown any Superman rogues, except for Luthor and Zod.

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)

Yeah that's pretty much why it's sucky. Even Superman had to fight himself. The thing about Metallo is that well he would be like Iron Man.

Not only that, you would probably have to learn to stop cursing every 2 sentences.

Not really.

Tony Stark wears an iron suit. Metallo is a full-on cyborg with a human brain. Metallo is more like Robocop than Iron Man.

Unrelated but since you posted:

You were right, I was wrong, and I was so completely satisfied that I'm glad I was wrong about what we debated regarding TDKR a short while back.

Cheers.

You're right, more robots for Superman. i'd like him to fight Toyman though but the Superfriends version who wore a Jester hat and controlled a space region of his toy kingdom.

Comic Con trailer

<object id="sbPlayer" width="634" height="420" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"><param name="movie" value="http://www.springboardplatform.com/mediaplayer/springboard/video/hypb001/907/522913/"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.springboardplatform.com/mediaplayer/springboard/video/hypb001/907/522913/" width="634" height="420" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent"></embed></object>

this trailer kicked so much ass.... the music from the thin red line gives it a more epic feeling

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)

I kind of liked the teaser. I thought the Kevin Costner V.O. was good. I'll wait and reserve judgement for an actual trailer with more footage. I'd like to know the tone they are going with with this flick.

I know some of us aren't great at counting but you quoted 4 sentences where I didn't curse. Lol.
