Also mentioned in the interview, since you're a Reznor nerd (like me), The Fragile 5.1 will be out later this year. I think he said Fall... but I could be wrong.

Either way, I am looking forward to the film and the score.

Same, it's fitting.

The eyebrows make her look cartoonish. I'll agree it's an amazing transformation, but I think Mara is going to be the weak point in the movie.

Based on what exactly? Her brief part in Social Network?
I find it so funny that people are criticizing her based on absolutely nothing but a few photos (of which she looks hot as hell in that second pic, and more like the character than Noomi did). People seem to think this character is nothing but all "punk" when she wasn't.
People have gushed over the original film, despite it being extremely bland, routine, and quite drastically different from the books. Lisbeth in the books was frequently described as angelic, fragile, insecure and childlike and beautiful in her own way. Noomi played the character hard as nails, butch, and overtly aggressive.

^Her not so brief part in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake is my reason for concern. I thought she was great in the Social Network but sucked balls in Nightmare.

Never seen it, I guess I'm just weird where I gave Fincher the benefit of the doubt that he casted her for good reason. For those that liked Noomi, if you had ever seen her interviewed before seeing the films, you would have said there is no F'n way this girl could play that role.

NOES remake sucked period. i'll admit i wasn't impressed with her performance but she knocked it out of the park in her brief screen time in THE SOCIAL NETWORK. fincher must see something in her and i trust him. she does look fucking hot in those pics.

I think she definitely looks the part.
Now, if she acts the part remains to be seen. I was not impressed by her in NOES, but I will definitely be rooting for her to pull this movie off.

Like others here, I hated her in "Nightmare..." but I haven't completely written her off as a horrible actress; she did great in her small role in "The Social Network."

I'll clarify further. She'll be the weak point in a cast of amazing potential. If my prediction is correct, Fincher's remake will have a cast that hits a string of home runs, with Mara being merely above average to good, whereas the original had a serviceable cast, with Rapace stealing every scene she was in.
The fact is, a great actor (which Rapace is) can make even the most trite material interesting. Unless the director of the NOES remake was filming multiple takes until he got a performance from Mara that was as bland as dull as a box of rocks, she hasn't proven she can carry a film.
I think her small part in Social Network is good, but a lot of that is due to Eisenberg's electric delivery. Also, it was reported the opening scene took nearly 100 takes; why, I have no clue, but that doesn't really instill confidence in natural ability, unless something in the background drove Fincher nuts for 80 of those takes. Back to my point, Rapace did the same thing for Nyqvist in the original Dragon Tattoo. Once the two team-up, the Blomqvist character is much more fascinating; before she's involved, not so much.

Having extensively watched The Social Network extras today, the fact that the opening scene took 99 takes had nothing to do with Rooney's acting and everything to do with the fact that Fincher loves to do tons of takes (50-60 takes was apparently not uncommon), and that scene is 9 pages of Sorkin dialogue.
That being said, I haven't commented in this thread yet, but I saw the original and liked it. However, I did not think it was in the best of the year, and if it weren't for the remake I would have forgotten about it by now. I also find that I cannot bring myself to watch the sequels. I'm sure they're worth watching, but I can't bring myself to sit down and watch them. I'm curious what Fincher will do with the remake, but I really wish he had taken another project instead.

They turn Lisbeth into an over-the-top avenger of all wronged women, who by the end of the film should is better classified as a superhero. The third is a bit better, but still a far cry from the original. What's most frustrating is what they built up for Lisbeth in terms of lurking threats in #1 and #2, gets casually discarded at the beginning of each #2 and #3.

Seriously, don't watch the sequels. I saw Dragon Tattoo and Played With Fire back-to-back theatrically and the difference in quality was tremendous; I was tempted to walk-out midway through, but endured for the long haul.

PS - those pics above look exactlly like how I imagined Lisbeth. I wanted to read the books before I saw the foreign films -- which I'm going to start watching this weekend.

Technically, Lisbeth is supposed to look practically like a child if I recall correctly from the books.
