Nice :) To be fair, wasn't that always the case in the comics, cartoons, or whatever too?

Frankly, that whole sequence looked pretty damn good to me. The things fall and break with believable weight weight behind them, and the character movement seems natural and has an appropriate weight to it. Not sure what it is you're seeing that bothers you.

I'm not sure if its better for CG animators to follow old school animation principles (like squash and stretch and the related drag in motion) or if incorporating those makes it look too cartoony. When you don't heed those in traditional animation, then the movements look too stiff and robotic.

Also, don't know if this being a Sony film that they would keep every single effects shot in-house, but what usually happens is that a ton of little mom & pop design studio make bids and separate shots/sequences are farmed out to many different houses- which is why some shots look much more polished than others. I guess it's the nature of the beast when you have so many complex effects per film and have a hard and fast release date. It makes sense to divvy up the work burden and not let it all fall on one groups shoulders.

I forgot about the 3D, and that could indicate that my issues aren't just with the effects but with the actual direction of the film. I'm not a fan of 3D to begin with, but I hate the gimmicky shots where shit jumps out at the screen. I prefer exciting action through context and story rather than money shots. Despite my hate for 3D, I'm excited to see Prometheus in that format because it looks like Scott is avoiding all of the classic 3D cliches and simply using it to enhance visuals with depth.

Yeah, I felt that was the case in other media too, the worst offender was the first PS1 video game where it straight up attached to the sky (and then they added a "the floor will kill you" plot point to have the game tethered to the rooftops and half the buildings). That game was still kinda fun though.

I admit that it would probably be hard to make it work logistically if the buildings are so low and he can't get enough speed, etc.

Quite relevant. The CG looks fine there.

I even wondered about the Spiderman swinging from the sky when I was a little kid. They used to rerun the Spiderman cartoon (where the famous theme song is from) & they alway showed him swinging his way across town. I used to wonder what he was sticking his webs to since there were no building reaching above him. Clouds? The only time that swinging bit (it was a stock animation clip used over and over) made any sense is when Manhatten was lifted off the Earth and Spidey was swinging under the city. Then I knew his webs were sticking to the bottom of the island.

There was a bunch of little signs saying keep watching for new items soon but all the pegs had the names of the toys on them so not much of a secret what it was.

Anyone see the lit up near life size lenticular poster at a theater yet? It's pretty neat.

Target has to have some special deal with Marvel stuff because they get their toys months before the other stores. I saw Avengers figures back in January.

They showed a 3D version of the latest trailer before MIB 3 today and I thought it looked awesome. The money shot at the end where the tower is falling doesn't look as cartoonish as it does in the regular 2D version.

So you keep saying.

You show an obscene amount of interest in a movie you apparently have no interest in.

The scene where he dents the goal post with a football looks freaking retarded. I have never been one of the complainers about Lizard's look or the "bad" CGI or anything like that, but that scene did look bad even to me.

Obscene? A couple of posts on a DVD enthusiast message board?

I noticed a new trailer had gone up and thought I'd put it in this thread thinking it might spark some discussion. So fuck me very much apparently.

Don't know why but that trailer was the first time I've noticed the Lizard's tail.
