I did like the reference in the Norton film of Betty getting him those awful purple sweat pants.

Looks like the reason he pops up on her fire escape and quips about the doorman for his reason on showing up outside her window.

I have to admit, it would pretty neat if he and Denis Leary have scenes together.

Are they just not showing it or does Uncle Ben really not die in this "version"?

Spoiler:
He dies. Though in this version, he isn't car jacked.

When will the Spider-Man rights revert back to Marvel/Disney?

I may be mistaken but isn't the deal that so long as Sony keeps a film in production every four years or so that they retain the film rights?

When Sony stops making movies. Not sure how long they have in between movies, but the rights lapse when they stop making movies over a certain period of time. Since there's a new Spidey coming out this year, and the last one was in 2007, I would say not for at least another five years, and only then if Sony does not produce a followup to Amazing Spider-Man within that time.

Spoiler:
He wasn't carjacked in the comics either. It was a burglar that broke into his house.

And I really hate what they are doing with Captain Stacy in this movie. They are basically turning him into Jonah, which is completely against his comic character.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

Plus couldn't they also pull a fast one and make an unreleasable movie to retain the rights as well? Or does Marvel have a clause against that because of Fantastic Four?

devilshalo 03-19-12 05:00 PM

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

^ While this one did not cost as much as the first three, I do not see why any studio would make an unreleasable movie in this economy.

Spoiler:
Joe Chill robs a liquor store in this one. And you don't have to worry about Capt. Stacy. He doesn't make it to the next film.

Joe Chill killed Thomas and Martha Wayne and Uncle Ben too? Whoa.

I had heard rumors of Captain Stacy dying in the movie, and they are the complete opposite of what happened in the comics. In the comics, as he was dying he told Peter that he secretly knew he was Spider-man and to take care of Gwen after he was gone. In the movie, he tells Peter to stay away from her.

Personally, the changes they are making to Captain Stacy bother me more than the Lizard design.

I'm still confused to how he loses his dick. At least in the comics he kept his pants on (I remember there was another Lizard who was pantsless..but not Connors)..so you ASSUMED he still had a dick there.

God he looks absolutely awful. Did they even try to make him look like a lizard? His normal man face is jut throwing me off.

Not really. His lacks a head design that would be exciting as is but his body looks fine.

If there was a green lizard dick flapping around, it would automatically make it an R-rated movie.

There was only one Lizard in the comics, Curt Connors. Maybe you are thinking of the Stegron, the dinosaur man, who did team up with Lizard once.

Not at all. He looks like the classic Ditko Lizard.

http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/9700/ditkolizard.jpg

I think what really throws people is not actually the face, but rather the lack of lab coat and pants. Naked Lizard is bad, but if he had the coat and pants he would look pretty much exactly like how Ditko drew him. Why oh why Marvel decided on naked Lizard is beyond me.

I kind of prefer the snout, just because I'm used to it, but I agree, it's the lack of the lab coat that really bothers me about the look.

Who knows maybe in the movie he will evolve going from a Ditko look in the beginning to a more McFarlane look at the end?

Who knows? We don't know much, although weren't there some rumors about some goofy shit like Connors having a whole group of Lizard men doing his bidding?
