Yup. The same thing happened with the toy releases for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Now that's the way to go, not only should every superhero but every villain should have a mobile, and also a villain sidekick.

I don't get it either. It's not as if the tone of the movie forbids better quality action figures and merchandise. Spider-man 2 was definitely a less "marketable" movie than the first and third movie, but the high-quality action figures that came out certainly did well.

Wow, when was the last time you guys were in the toy aisle? They've always (ALWAYS) made stupid vehicles for Spider-Man (and most other characters in current vogue). It never made sense, as he is a "lower income" character, but I can't believe you guys have never noticed this before.

About 20 years ago when I actually was a kid.

I don't have kids of my own, so it would be a little strange for a 30+ year old man to be wandering the toy aisle.

You've never bought a present for a niece or nephew? Why disparage those of us who do have children?

I doubt we'll actually see a Spidermobile or Lizardmobile. They made a Spidercycle toy for the first one and it never appeared, thankfully.

Or those like me who just like these movie figures to display.

Can't all afford those $200+ 'Hot Toys' premium collectibles.

This is from 1978, right about the time the TV show was on. The Spider-car has a long history. It is absurd to think it is actually in the movie.

What a shame. :(

I think they can make like a bad ass race scene ala Fast and Furious.

Probably won't see that kind of car for the same reason you'll never see those colorful variant Batman costumes in the movies.

I've changed my mind about seeing this movie. No Mangler=no sell. :(

I loved the toy variants. I think I had every version of Batman from Batman Returns, including arctic Batman, who had a white suit but still had a black cape and cowl. Make up your mind! Silly Batman.

I wouldn't have been as bothered by them if they just made the regular costumed Batman easier to find, if they made it at all! I used to take the variants and paint them or color them with black marker just to have something that looked like what was in the movie. :)

Was it Kenner that made the Batman Returns toys? I remember the Robin, Bruce Wayne, and Catwoman figures being pretty sweet (Although Catwoman could barely stand on her own, but whatever).

Really? Guess it depends on what you're looking at in the toy aisle.

I think I did too  must've had about ten Batman's from Returns, if not more. I'm pretty sure I still have them around someplace although most are missing the accessories I'm sure.

I only have the variants of the first Burton film. I believe there were 4 different heads/faces of which only 2 looked like Keaton of that ToyBiz line.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

Official synopsis:

"The Amazing Spider-Man" is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
