Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)
I thought that this would be a sure thing; I really did. It is probably the easiest costume in comic books to "make". When the pictures were released today, I saw the first one and thought "head looks awesome--something a seriously dedicated fanboy would wear to CON." Then I scrolled down and thought, "Oh my God, they are marking SPIDER-MAN 2099 88 years to early!" Besides the two tone gloves which look ridiculous, I was happy to see *any* type of mechanical web shooters but that is about it.
I am very bummed unless there is some "final costume" we have not seen yet. It seems that the only sure thing in comic book movies is from Christopher Nolan esp after this weeks casting (although I was never a Bane fan and Tom Hardy is not that big a dude, I am sure Nolan has something up his sleeve.) Oh and finally, does anyone know if Favreau left the next installment of IRON MAN b/c MARVEL/DISNEY kept making him put more and more AVENGERS tie-in shots in IM2? (Fury, Agent Coulson, Caps Shield, the Initiative papers, etc). I was really hoping he would stay on as director b/c I thought the first IRON MAN was a perfect first installment--the second had some flaws that I thought were fixable but Maybe Favs got fed-up w/ all of the input from the brass.

'Eh. ANY superhero costume is going to look ridiculous in still (non-'shopped up) images. It's how it looks in motion that matters.

Christopher Reeve's Superman suit looked just fine sans Photoshop.

None...what's your point?
it did. Sadly I don't think that suit would work today...general differences from the era and whatnot. It looked great on Reeves though.
So do most things like this taken out of context.

Considering how underlit the promo shot was, I bet we wont really see Spidey in all his Winter Olympics glory when we watch the actual film.

Not diggin the design at all. Looks like some kind of skier suit like you'd see in the Olympics? Racing stripes or something....odd looking.

How can you say 'taken out of context', when these are crystal clear pics of a horrible looking costume? The Raimi costume looked great in set pics, and it looked great on film. If they have to use a bunch of lighting, cg, etcetc to make this thing look good, then obviously they didn't have much confidence in it in the first place which is just lazy and doesn't really give me much hope for the rest of the movie, not that I had much to begin with.

I thought these new shots were of the "stunt guy" suit.
The pics from the earlier Spidey's are definitely the acting suit.
Or better yet I'm not going to get into it since assessing behind the scenes stuff is pointless.

No Jameson for the Reboot

Maybe we'll get to see him in the sequel. I'm actually glad that he won't show up in this one. I want them to take their time on the story and not rush everything up.
The new Spider-Man movie has been filming for a few weeks now, and there's still been no word on who has been cast as Peter Parker's boss, Daily Bugle chief J. Jonah Jameson.
This prompted us to do a little digging and we found out from very reliable sources that it's because ... J. Jonah Jameson won't be in the movie. That's right, Spidey fans. We've confirmed that no one will be growling "Parker!" in this 3D reboot. So much for those rumors about John Slattery or Sam Elliott playing him.

Well hey, at least they're filming this stuff live action.... I'm sure their will be a CG spidey for plenty of shots, but it's nice to still see an imperfect looking stuntman swinging around.

Looks like the suit has a velcro element to it.
Definitely glad to see they're doing practical effects for relatively simple stunts that the other film would have just went straight to CGI for.
