I don't know if this will have enough spectacle to compete in a crowded summer marketplace- but I can already tell it's going to have tremendous replay at home on a smaller display in a more intimate setting.
It's going to do well for Fox on DVD/Bd.
The only complaint I have at this (premature) point is I wish the hairstyles all looked of the period. We should be seeing nothing but short hair on the guys, tapered in the back, as well as some crew cuts here and there. Apart from the one black guys satin jacket, I'm not seeing much of the praised 60's fashion/design in the clips or photos so far. And that was the aspect that initially flipped me from antagonistic/apathetic to curious and interested. Otherwise the first trailer sold me with the personal conflicts hinted and everything since has just continued on the same positive trajectory.
My second most anticipated movie this summer.
Obsessed With Film has a full review up that's very positive (and contains spoilers).

Pretty cool scenes..and whomever was talking about the helmet was right. Also these are edited clips as one can easily tell on some of them...

Really like what they did w/ Banshee's voice...always wondered how it would be in a live action context....I can't remember Gen X besides it sucking..

Fassbender's really making this his own for sure. Also McAvoy is bringing that emotion that I've known X to have...good.

There's probably a good reason we haven't seen much at all of her in the early trailers.
Still have high hopes for the film. I just hope Keanuary Jones doesn't create too much of a black hole when she's on screen, and suck everything else that's strong and good, into it.

I've read both Marvel and DC since I was a kid, but I'm more of a Marvel fan. But yeah, I can see where a DC fan would get pretty annoyed. They keep cranking out Marvel movies that usually range from decent to very good, and DC's movie successes seem few and far between.

I like the comparisons stating it's kind of like an early Bond flick with mutants.

I liked the first two X-Men movies, hated the third. Seemed to me the third movie was a franchise killer after they killed off everyone that meant anything to the X-Men as far as I was concerned. Also meant (to me) that the only direction they could go at that point was back because Ratner effectively killed forward. Asshole.
Looks like the prequel has been done with style, and it looks like it might be a another X-Men hit with me...

it will be interesting to see how it plays with general audiences.
Ironically, as much as I was sold on the movie from the first trailer back in February, that last seeding of promo clips has tempered my enthusiasm a bit. Jones flat out sucks as Frost (blinking as you deliver your lines is a big no-no- especially with a character like Frost), and the material with Shaw looks like a rote re-iteration of the first films situation with Magneto ("there's a war coming- join us").

Thanks to the free movie cash that came with the X-Men films on BD ($7.99 ea. w/ $12 tickets), I'll definitely be seeing this next week.

Bought two of the XMen on BR and printed out my two Movie Coupons, now I need to go the Movie Theater and get the tickets.
Great deal, $7.99 each BR Movie, each ticket would have cost me over $10 bucks.

yeah, that BB movie cash deal is ridiculous. i was wanting to pick up the bds of 1 and 2 for a while but not seen any great deals. getting the movies and the movie tickets for $8 was totally worth it.

I only like X2 and plan on seeing First Class this weekend so I went to grab the X2 BR today and take advantage of the movie cash deal. I accidentally bought X3. I noticed it after I opened it. Cause I'm a moron. FML.

I liked those clips except for the Emma Frost one. I hope that was just a bad take because January Jones' delivery was pathetic.
Loved that final clip between Fassbender and McAvoy. Their scenes together will be quite a treat.
My only other nitpicks are the shitty greenscreen when Fassbender was under the jet in the Banshee clip and that Magneto gets his helmet from Shaw (I liked the implication in X-Men that he built the helmet himself). Still, really looking forward to this flick.

Decent movie. 3 out of 5 mainly for Fassbender & Bacon. They were both awesome.
My main problems with it:
- Thoroughly generic and predictable plot with almost no truly memorable action sequences.
- This kind of crappy CGI in a big budget summer blockbuster is not good enough.
- Truly lame mutants that had nothing to do. "Bug Girl" and "Annoying Screaming Dude", seriously? I haven't read the comics so I don't know if they are popular characters, but it seems there must be more interesting mutants to choose from.

the bug girl isn't popular...but she's in there. Kravitz was horrible. Banshee is actually a cool character in the comics, but they made it more teen drama than I wanted. I hated the main "class" for they were generically written.

No decent action sequences? The attack on Shaw's boat (with Magneto throwing the anchor across the ship) and the aircraft carrier showdown weren't good enough?
