I'd prefer a rotating cast of older mutants, but i'm not ready to trash this idea yet.

Josh Schwartz = Awesome in my book. The O.C., Chuck and Gossip Girl are all damn good shows with sharp writing. If he's going to bring those kind of smarts to a new X-men movie, I'm in.

But for this to work, its going to hinge on the characters. Without Wolverine, theyre going to be hurting.
X-men comics survived 12 years without Wolverine. Just because every issue of anything seems to be based off amazing sale figures with wolverine on the cover doesn't mean they can't write a good story without that over saturated cliche of a character.

Yes, everything must be recast with various flavors of the month.

The past sucks. Old things suck. Old people suck.

As a TV show, sure. As a movie, no....the memory of X-Men 3 is still too much to bear.

X-Men: First Class

Apparently this will begin shooting next year.

SuperHeroHype.com reports that Tim Pocock, who played the young Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has revealed that he will reprise the role in 20th Century Fox's X-Men: First Class.

"Currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010...then X-men first class," he said on his Twitter account. "Wolverine" producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently hinted that a new "X-Men" movie would start production in 2010.

Written by Josh Schwartz, the film will likely draw from elements of the Marvel Comic of the same name, launched in 2006.

I hope they leave Patrick Stewart's face alone this time around. The same for Ian McKellan if he makes an appearance.

Re: X-Men: First Class

I thought X-Men the Last Stand had a better de-aged Stewart than the recent one; if they do it right, it shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully they are following what Wolverine did and make it a period piece.

Re: X-Men: First Class

It wasn't too bad during the closeups in Wolverine but during the far shots it looked like a total head replacement (and a badly done one at that).

Still, I can't imagine the effect holding up well for the entire duration of a feature length movie. And I bet such an effect could easily eat up the effects budget. That's money I'd rather see spent on mutant powers.

Yeah, Stewart's head was floating. Why can't they just make him a bit younger using practical make up? It still looked weird in X3.

That's exactly what I want to see. It'd be a lot more believable than the deaging technique they've been using and would probably swallow less of the budget too.

Re: X-Men: First Class

It depends on how involved Professor X will be in the story; if it's going to be a Professor X and cast story, then I can see money being an issue. Seeing as how they're using lesser known actors for the main roles, they should have money for a great effects budget.

Hopefully, this will wash the bad taste of Wolverine (currently my pick for worst movie of the summer AND year) away.

Eh Id rather see another sequel. Too bad they screwed the pooch and killed everyone, but there are still tons of mutants to choose from. I would like to see a Cyclops/White Queen lead team.

I hope they re-cast Emma Frost as well. In the Wolverine movie, I just felt like I was watching a young:

Re: X-Men: First Class

If they can make it better than Wolverine I might be interested, but I don't really see that happening.

Wowza! I thought she was pretty in Wolverine but wouldn't have guessed she was so hot!

Weren't there rumours of some alternate endings to X-Men: The Last Stand that featured Cyclops in an unknown hospital and an eathquake that preceded a shot of Jean Grey's grave having been dug out from the inside?

Either of those could easily fit into a present day sequel and would be perfect setup for Mr. Sinister and even Apocalypse.

Re: X-Men: First Class

I hope they can recast Wolverine. Make him 5'3 like the comic book..making him look like a scary vicious husky animal.

With the yellow and blue suit!

Or the orange and dark brown/black one!

Re: X-Men: First Class

It sucks that they used Angel and Iceman as kids; previous rumors had this being a prequel of sorts, so it will be interesting what other mutants they add as the founding class. It would be cool to see Beast pre-fur or something.

After the way Fox keeps butchering the property, I'm going to gracefully give this flick the good ole El Paso.

Yeah, that really does suck. I mean, they could do the whole "Iceman I" method. Swapping out Angel for Banshee would be a good move.

I really hope they do Danger Room stuff and do it well.
