Re: Your Favorite Hong Kong fight scene?
I still think the fans are owed a true HK fight scene with Li and Chan. I never saw Forbidden Kingdom but I did see the fight. I was a bit let down. I think Jackie Chan's last great film was Drunken Master II, IMO.
A HK Expendables type of film would be much much more insane than the American one. Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen, Ju Wing, Collin Chou, Yuen Biao, etc etc. And it'd pretty much be all fighting. I couldn't imagine it. I think it'd literally kick me in the mouth were I to see the trailer.

Re: Your Favorite Hong Kong fight scene?
I know Jackie Chan has expressed desire for a another pairing between him and Jet Li. If it does happen, I hope that they are the leads and that there is a huge standout fight between them midway through the movie. I also think Donnie Yen should portray the badguy since Jackie Chan always lamented the horrible brevity of their fight in Shanghai Knights and Jet Li enjoyed working with him so much in Once Upon A Time In China II that he pushed for Donnie Yen to be cast as Sky in Hero. A 20 minute fight with those three would be the perfect way to end any movie.

I think we should start an insane fan casting like we all did in the thread for The Expendables and then e-mail a bunch of fan letters to our chosen actors so that they'd feel compelled to make it.
Oh and Lau Kar Leung must participate in some form. Even if only one scene.
And we'll call this masterpiece, Masters of the My Fist To Your Face Style.

Re: Your Favorite Hong Kong fight scene?
Aside from what has been mentioned...
I'd also go with the end fights in Prodigal Son and Warriors Two. Awesome stuff.
Always been partial to Chen Sing's down and dirty, knee deep in mud fight from Tough Guy, plus Sing versus Kurata in Black Panther, and, while I'm at it, arguably his best work in Sammo's The Iron-Fisted Monk.
The finale of Invincible Armor is a winner.
Duel to the Death's end fight is epic. As well as the vase/basket/whatever ghostie scene in Chinese Ghost Story.
And, Ive always liked the ends of Wang Yu's Return of the Chinese Boxer and Master of the Flying Guillotine because he didn't fight fair and used booby traps.
Mad Monkey Kung Fu sports some of the best acrobatics in a kung fu film.

Re: Your Favorite Hong Kong fight scene?
Dude, there already was a Hong Kong EXPENDABLES. It was called EASTERN CONDORS (1987) and stars Sammo Hung (who also directed), Yuen Biao, Lam Ching-Ying (MR. VAMPIRE), Chin Kar Lok, Yuen Wah (POLICE STORY 3), Phillip Ko (tons of old-school kung fu), Wu Ma (CHINESE GHOST STORY), Dick Wei (YES, MADAM), James Tien, Billy Chow (FIST OF LEGEND), Yasuaki Kurata (FIST OF LEGEND), plus two great HK action directors, in acting roles, Yuen Woo Ping and Corey Yuen. And, to top it off, Joyce Godenzi (SHE SHOOTS STRAIGHT) as a femme guerrilla warrior.

BTW..I've never seen The Blade but after seeing that clip I now must get the DVD, you easily tell it's a Tsui Hark film for sure based on the style.

Re: Your Favorite Hong Kong fight scene?
Uh yeah I know of the film, I even posted the final fight scene BUT it's not an HK Expendables. They were in their prime at that time. To be an HK Expendables it'd need to be them as older actors who are still heralded but haven't made a film as great as that of their prime joined by current action stars. THIS is what the Expendables is. Eastern Condors isn't an HK Expendables film, as great of a film as it is.
And throw in Megan Fox and Ellen Page as the femme guerrilla warriors.
I'm there!

Megan Fox, as hot as she is, has no business in an HK Expendables. As for Ellen Page, what is her appeal?
Other than that, I like your idea of an Eastern Condors remake. Or it can be a loose remake of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly but set during the Warring States Period and starring Jet Li, Jackie Chan, and Donnie Yen as the core trio. Then, through the course of the movie, they are involved in a series of vignettes in which we meet characters portrayed by martial arts superstars of yesteryear and the rising stars of today. And, of course, a boat load of action throughout.

Re: Your Favorite Hong Kong fight scene?
Have to admit that it's tough to find another HK martial arts star now. We're blessed to have Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen, Yuen Biao, and Yuen Wah, but to be honest, nowadays there aren't that many great up and coming stars. Only person I see that's good enough is Wu Jing.
I do wished that Chan and Li could've make movies before Forbidden Kingdom when they were younger and more capable of performing

You're scaring me.
I don't recall ever mentioning them here. Now I have to be very careful about what I say.
(Who the hell is Luther Heggs? Note to self: Be on the lookout for a Don Knotts fan who knows way too much.)

Although I hate your casting choices, Ash Ketchum, I love your choice for a vignette and your choice for its director. In fact, that's the way to go. A different director and choreographer for each vignette. Just write an overall arc for Li, Chan, and Yen and have a different writer/director/choreographer team flesh out each adventure. Kind of like Casino Royale (the Niven/Sellers version) but all action.
And Wu Jing is amazing. I really wish he'd get more high profile work both in HK and the US.
And I believe Flashpoint is proof that there is still talent willing to make gritty action flicks. Though the acrobating stunts are definitely in decline.

Even Jackie is losing it a bit. He uses a stuntman at times...which I EASILY catch cuz we've all seen him a thousand times doing his stuff. I cry a bit every time I see him use a stuntman. I dunno. I'd like see Chan, Biao, Yuen, and Yeoh together. The 3 best stunt/fight team added w/ the most badass stunt/fight woman. I think Yeoh is still too. LOVED her in Police Story 3: Supercop
go the 4 min mark..after that it's pretty badass.

Well, in all fairness, the "no stutman" stuff was marketing BS for the US release of Rumble In The Bronx. Although he avoids it whenever possible, he's used stuntment for years. Same with wirework. He prefers not use wires but it's not unheard of for him to use them.
