Those following creator Bryan Lee O'Malley on Twitter (@radiomaru) might have noticed that he seems to have seen said trailer recently.

The word from some of the super-early screenings is that they're targeting a mid-August release. (One guy said 8/17 specifically, but that's a Tuesday, so that can't be right...)

Official Scott Pilgrim movie release date: 8/13. Bryan Lee O'Malley confirmed that vol. 6 will come out before the movie, but he didn't indicate how much ahead it'd be.

I found out about the test screening literally an hour before it happened. A friend of mine had a pass and blew it off because the person promoting it said "it's a future film with Michael Cera." Motherfucker, I almost had the audacity to punch him in the face.

Sadly, Wright has all but completely ensured that I'll never see this movie by casting Cera. Sucks, because I love Wright's films but I FUCKING LOATHE Michael Cera.

I'm definitely more excited for Vol. 6 than I am for the movie.

I know its trendy and the acceptable thing to hate Cera, it isn't cool to like the guy (which I do, but I'm not cool). Anyway have you read Scott Pilgrim? I'm just curious because it was O'Malley that told Wright he always wanted Cera to play the part.

I don't give a shit wtf Wright does as long as it's good. He's yet to displease me, so I'm in for this.

Are you sure? I was listening to an interview with O'Malley a couple weeks back, and he makes it sound like it was the other way around:

Oh, I hated Cera long before it was cool to hate Cera. I just can't stand his brand of humor. Those awkward, stilted lines and his man-boy presence turns me off to anything he's in. The first thing I ever saw him in was Superbad, and I thought he was ok because I didn't know that's how he was all the fucking time. Now, having seen some more of his work, I can't stand to watch anything he's in.

Blame Juno, I suppose, because I also can't stand Ellen Page.

Hmmm. Scott Pilgrim's definitely a kid-in-a-twentysomething's body, but he's more frantic, nervous energy than quiet and awkward. Plus he has colossal, cartoonishly over-the-top fight sequences with robots and ninjas. I don't think this is the Michael Cera you'd be expecting.

This whole thing seems tailor-made for hipsters. I like Edgar Wright, but if I go see this in theaters I fear I'll be drowned in a sea of ironic t-shirts and iPads.

Oh god, I never even thought about someone using an ipad in a movie theater. Ugh.

Edit: Then again, its size makes it possible to grab the ipad out of the person's hands and smash it over the head, so maybe this will be a good thing.

I don't hate Michael Cera, I am just growing tired of his shtick. Really enjoyed him in Arrested Development, Superbad, and Juno, but I'm just tired of seeing him play the same character all of the time. As long as he doesn't do his usual routine in this movie he should be fine in the role.

Same. I'm really looking forward to the movie, but have been waiting on the final volume for what seems like forever.

It better open huge because Expendables opens the week after that.

I wish people would learn how to spell Seth Rogen's name correctly.

For all those who are tired of Cera's schtick I can't imagine the guy has too many more years of pulling off the awkward teenager roles. Unless he reinvents himself I'd guess he'll fade away soon enough.

That being said, I actually like the guy. He makes me laugh. Of course I also like Shia LeBeouf so you may not care about my opinion.

The trailer should be available tomorrow. Word is it's playing in front of Kick-Ass in the UK cinemas
