MR. MAJESTYK (1974) was the closest thing to "Mexploitation" I saw in the 1970s. Charles Bronson plays a melon grower who goes up against bad white competitors. Bronson doesn't play Mexican (although he easily could have), but his workers are all Mexican and the two main ones are played by Linda Cristal and Alejandro Rey (both Argentines). It was based on an Elmore Leonard novel.

I appreciate him for the same reasons I appreciate Uwe Boll.

There's a compliment in there somewhere.

I'm pretty sure he's not the one putting it on Twitter. They're just repurposed posts from here. Whoever is updating it needs to get back to work.

This is one hispanic who wants nothing to do with that "border crossed us" bullshit. If I didn't know better, I'd think this movie was made by the klan to turn people against Mexicans.

Sorry, but you can only be offended by something if random people on the internet say you can be offended.

The movie has everything AND a masked mexican wrestler! :rock2:

Also, even though I'm sure I'm alone in this, Michelle Rodriguez looks hot as hell in that trailer! (Funny how much has changed since The Fast And The Furious when I couldn't stand the sight of her.)

Um..no, you're not. She's gorgeous. But so is Jessica Alba. Two reasons to check this one out. (They almost make up for the fact that Lindsey Lohan is in it).

Yeah, Alba is looking fine as hell too. Lohan doesn't bother me because she can be a solid actress when she wants to be. Also, given how she was barely in the last trailer and I didn't even spot her in this one, something tells me she's an over-glorified cameo anyway.

See, I thought this trailer was dreadful. What was with all that stupid blur? I'm sure the movie will kick all kinds of ass, but that trailer should never have seen the light of day. It's a problem when the new trailer for your movie isn't as good as the fake trailer the movie itself is based on.

Well...........they can't really run the fake trailer or the Cinco De mayo trailer, so it's better than nothing

Also I'm glad to see RR's nieces in this thing, previously known as the The Babysitter twins in Grindhouse....fucking hot.

RocShemp 07-09-10 01:25 AM

Re: Machete

I thought Robert Rodriguez was the sole director on this one but now I see that he shares that duty with Ethan Maniquis. Is this because they recycled footage from the Grindhouse trailer? Did RR shoot the old footage but EM shot all the new footage? :hscratch:

Here's the website, by the way: http://www.vivamachete.com/

Re: Machete

New Trailer SUCKS!!! They are totally ignoring it's Grindhouse roots and making it look like a shitty DTV action flick. I will still go see it but I was really hoping for Grindhouse 2 not Under Seige 3: Mexican Bloodbath

Re: Machete

yeah, i saw it in front of Predators. I didn't like that it plays very seriously, instead of the farce/mexploitation it is. if they keep it like this for when the movie comes out, there will be some very confused people, as i know there will people that don't realize that its not supposed to be taken seriously

RocShemp 07-09-10 02:14 AM

Re: Machete

Seriously? Really? I dunno, I found it funny myself. Everyone I've shown it to has laughed as well. The masked mexican wrestler is just one of many big clues that this is a farce.

Weird. And sad. Cheech's scenes were golden.
