Re: Machete
Steven Seagal in Machete?!
Please let this happen
The folks at Moviehole recently ran with a rumor that Steven "The Tail" Seagal was about to join Danny Trejo, Jonah Hill and Bobby Friggin DeNiro on board Rodriguez's long anticipated MACHETE. Seagal's rep were quick to drop in and deny the rumor with a Zeusian bolt of lightning in their hand, but then something strange happened: those same reps backtracked, and confirmed the big guy was officially in talks to battle alongside the Mexican knife man, if the "conditions" were right. And by conditions we assume it means if he doesn't get killed 5 minutes into the thing like in EXECUTIVE DECISION.
Action man Steven Seagal's representatives have confirmed the actor is in talks to join the cast of Robert Rodriguez's Grind House spin-off movie MacHete.
The reps initially denied rumours Seagal was among the stars considered for roles in the Danny Trejo film, which featured as a spoof trailer in the Grind House double bill, but now they're backtracking, telling MovieHole.net that their client will be a part of the ultra-violent movie if "conditions" work out.

I'd be ok with seeing The Ponytailed One grab a role here. Let's face it, the guy hasn't done shit since... well, I can't even remember that decent role he had.

Re: Machete
Marked For Death was his last decent movie in my opinion. The Under Siege films were ok but after that the movies went right down the shitter.

Re: Machete
If this is getting a theatrical release I don't see it.
Seagal refuses to co-star in any film with the exception of Executive Decision (which is what turned him sour on co-starring) and a Korean film called Constantine or Valentine or something like that. He was only in that for like 2 minutes.
Still that'd be AWESOME.

Re: Machete
Well I hope Machete kills Seagal...Trejo is a lot more badass than Seagal. I'm sure Seagal might beat him in real life but cinematically Trejo has the look of a badass. Well even in real life he looks badass.

I'd say in their primes Trejo was tougher, and actually still may be.

Re: Machete
In their primes? Hrm...I dunno. Well maybe...Trejo was in prison for doing some stuff. I just could never be sold on Seagal's cinematic badassness. Trejo alone with his face, the man has a great badass face, or with Nude Mariachi woman in full glory screams awesome. I always thought that was just a thing they put on him in Desperado...but...it's a real tattoo.
ooooh....some Rodriguez stuff from Comic-Con..cool.

Rodriguez Wants Lohan For MacHete
Robert Rodriguez wants to give Lindsay Lohan's flagging acting career a boost - the director has offered her a role in his Grindhouse spin-off movie MacHete.
The filmmaker is preparing to turn the Danny Trejo movie, which featured as a spoof trailer in the Grindhouse double bill, into a full-length action project with an all-star line-up rumoured to include Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez and Jonah Hill.
He tells MTV.com, "I can’t say too much about it. Except that we start shooting in a couple weeks! These things come together very quickly. We’re casting right now, and the script just came out great… There are a lot of people we’re sending it to, big names - but nobody that we’ve signed yet."
But Rodriguez has his sights set on Lohan for one particular part and he's waiting to see if the Mean Girls star wants to sign on to the project.
He adds, "Lindsay’s cool. There’s actually a cool part in the movie for her - if she takes it."
Lohan - who has completed just one movie, Labor Pains, in the last two years - recently confessed she lives in fear of unemployment after losing out on the leading role in director Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland to acting newcomer Mia Wasikowska.
She told America's Nylon magazine, "It's scary when you realise, 'Oh my God, I'm not working. And (I) have a house to pay for now'."

Well if she has only done one movie in the past two years, she should be jumping at the chance to be working.

Press Release:
Robert Rodriguez has cast Jessica Alba (Sin City), Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez (Fast & Furious), Lindsay Lohan ("Mean Girls), Cheech Marin ("Once Upon a Time in Mexico), Jeff Fahey (Lost), Don Johnson and Steven Seagal (Under Siege) alongside Danny Trejo in the highly anticipated spin-off action flick, Machete. The film is based on the "fake" trailer in Rodriguez’s 2007 GRINDHOUSE, featuring Trejo and Fahey reprising their original roles. MACHETE is being produced by Rodriguez who is the co-director with Ethan Maniquis, his long time editor. Rodriguez and Overnight Productions announced today that shooting is gearing up out of Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.
MACHETE was originally a hard-edged trailer featured in GRINDHOUSE that became fanboy fodder since its first showing at the 2006 Comic-Con. "Machete had become my most requested movie and I never actually made it, so when the opportunity arose to answer the call with such an amazing cast, I jumped," said Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, who also penned the script, will serve triple duty as producer with Elizabeth Avellán of Troublemaker Studios and Rick Schwartz, Aaron Kaufman, and Iliana Nikolic of Overnight Productions, who will also provide the film's financing.
