Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Seeing the trailer on the big scene... I'm assuming that it's Bane we seeing doing push ups? It's really a Bane themed trailer. I hope he lives up to the hype.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Looks like the pushups are done by someone w/ hair. And smaller than Bane...I thought it was Wayne when I saw it in theater today.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
It also looks like there are bars in the background like he's in a cage. My guess is it's Bane before he's super villain Bane.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
That looked like Wayne when he was in prison in Batman Begins.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Or it could just be Wayne training again after Bane breaks him?
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Could be, but it looks like a prison.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Except Bruce didn't have long hair or a beard in that clip. So it must be from after BB rather than unused footage.

This is a pretty good read with detailed scenes and dialog from the trailer:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Here's what I think about the general plot structure. Nothing groundbreaking but I'm just trying to connect what we know.
Gordon's task force is overwhelmed by the increased organized crime and general chaos in Gotham. Batman still fights crime but is much more low-key, avoiding sightings by Gotham citizens and any interaction with police. A new force emerges in the form of Bane. Batman confronts Bane and learns he's trying to finish Ra's al Ghul's mission to destroy Gotham. Bane beats the crap out of Batman (not sure about the backbreaking), only to be saved by Gordon, who helps Batman to safety. As Bruce recovers privately perhaps he informs Wayne Enterprise and the media that he's out of the country on business or otherwise on vacation. Gordon confirms to himself that Bruce is Batman. Here we see Catwoman and Miranda Tate come into the story, most likely the former taking up the crime-fighting mantle and the latter growing closer to Bruce through business. Maybe months pass. Having been restored to health (Lazarus? I don't think so.), Bruce is ready to go back to work. However, the stress has taken its toll on Alfred, who can no longer work full time and eventually requires hospital treatment. Miranda and Bruce become intimate. As Gotham deteriorates either Gordon's health suffers, he's hurt on the job, or he's attacked at his home. After seeing to Alfred, Bruce visits Gordon in the hospital to pay his respects. There they share the intimate conversation where Gordon reveals his knowledge about Bruce/Batman. Gordon pleads for his help, but Bruce resists, having found himself a new future away from Gotham with Miranda. As Bruce makes his plans to leave Gotham, Miranda reveals herself to be Ra's' daughter. She's infiltrated his business and hopes to undermine Gotham's entire infrastructure while commanding her father's loyal followers, including Bane. Bruce accepts his role as Gotham's Dark Knight and takes up the suit one last time to bring an end to the chaos. By this point the organized mob (Falcone/Maroni families) and freaks(Scarecrow?)/Arkham inmates/League of Shadows are in an all out war for Gotham. Batman teams with Catwoman, and together they defeat Bane and the other League members, while the police (maybe Levitt's "John Blake" is the new task force leader?) take out and arrest the mob bosses. With order more or less restored and Batman's name cleared, Bruce officially retires the Batsuit and decides to stay with his father's business and help rebuild Gotham. He meets with Gordon on the PD building rooftop, who gets the chance to finally say, "Thank you." Of course, I am probably way off the mark. ;) We don't know anything about Miranda Tate, John Blake, or the young girl who was cast, and I hope we stay in the dark until the film's release. edit - added bits about Alfred and changed paragraph three a bit |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
you know if that turned out to be the plot I'd be completely cool with that. Big thumbs up!
 |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Not nearly enough scenes of Batman beating up baddies in that movie. I think as much as Bruce doesn't want to be Batman, he'll be kicking ass less than 30 minutes into the movie and if he gets worn out we'll only have to wait 15 minutes at most until he's kicking ass again.
It's just too big of a film to not have that happen. |

It's just too big of a film to not have that happen. Act 1 - Batman fighting crime up to meeting Bane Act 2 - Bruce's recovery, forces in Gotham colliding more Act 3 - Batman's comeback, epic final act Batman would be kicking ass for Acts 1 and 3. I think that's sufficient. Act 2 would have some action with Catwoman, the police vs. the mob, etc. We don't really know anything at this point, except that this movie is a definitive end to Nolan's Batman story. Again, the above is just something I wrote up tonight as my own general sense of the story structure. I don't present myself as being correct in any way but would love to hear other theories while we agonizingly wait one year. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I like your storyline except I do think we'll see the Lazarus Pit and Batman will use it.
Point to the realism all you want but there were flowers that were making people hallucinate nightmares and a machine that turned all water into steam. A healing pool isn't too much of a stretch. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I agree that Lazarus is a strong possibility, but for now I don't think it will factor. If it does, how will Nolan ground it in science and realism?
My guess would be that the pit derives its healing properties from the blue flower of the first film or something similar. |

Why is everyone assuming the Lazarus Pit will be part of this film?

I see. I don't think that necessarily means the Lazarus Pit, though.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
People are so annoyingly obsessed with the "Nolan's Bat-universe is REALISM; fantasy/scifi elements can't apply" mindset. That was never the case. It was always more of a "MORE realistic compared to previous comics movies" approach. The whole thing is still firmly rooted in the cinematic fantasy realm. Don't sweat it.
