There was just a story up at Comic Book Resources about Marion Cotillard at Talia and Joseph Gordan Levitt as The Black Mask, but it very quickly disappeared. Similar stories also sprouted up at other sites around the same time, and are still up.

It apparently stems from a fake press release, and all the bloggers jumped to act.

Just to comment on Nolan's Batman girls; he hasn't really had a great female role for any character in any of his films. Critics tore apart Johansson's role in The Prestige but it wasn't her fault. The part could have been played by any actress. I suppose Rebecca Hall did do a little better with her altogether forgettable role. Were there any women even in Insomnia? The only memorable female performance that comes to mind when you think of Christopher Nolan's body of work is Carrie Ann Moss in Memento. And even that's more likely because the film is so great.
Perhaps when it comes to strong female roles Nolan suffers like Kubrick in that aspect. But if that's the case then rock on Nolan.

She's memorable, but I too think it's a byproduct of the film and not the performance itself.

I thought Hillary Swank was the best part of Insomnia. Odd that the only cast member from that film Nolan ever reused was Nicky Katt.

Just pointing out that there was more than one woman and she matches Rebecca Hall's role in the Prestige as a supporting female character.

He does need to work on his female characters and I think that's something many people can agree on.

Although it doesn't seem all that revelatory now that it's 'confirmed', but Anne Hathaway referred to her character as 'Catwoman' on a post-Oscar interview with Oprah.

I look forward to seeing the ads saying 'Academy Award winner Christian Bale is Batman.' So now both Batman and the late Joker have Oscars!
That makes two Batmen who have Oscars then -- Clooney and Bale.
Poor Chris O'Donnell.

IF that is true...Nolan's really going all out w/ it. I'm excited and intimidated at how huge this can get. I can't wait to see the kind of stunt work employed and how Gotham will be in danger from it. As much as I love his superior NON Batman films, I'm excited by the level of entertainment that comes from them.

Sorry. I guess I'll have to go back to arguing about scratches on Captain America's shield.
