It might not be distracting if they just snuck her in there as a cameo and kept it a secret. She could be uncredited and leave people wondering who the freaky woman with a Joker fetish was. I'm not saying it's a good idea, just saying how it could be done without calling attention to who's playing the role.

re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I just finished watching my BD of Begins and Dark Knight back to back and have to say that they really go well together, so much so that I feel as though I am missing the final chapter. I have somewhat of a notion as to where the next one might go, but I have to admit, Nolan has so far made one hell of a story.
Judging from what we know about the next one and the casting, he has taken the Batman mythos and narrowed it down to what he considers the key elements/iconic moments from the comic series, and put them into a a trilogy. I have no idea how Rises will be, but I have confidence the fans will be happy.

Variety has updated their earlier article and revealed Joseph Gordon-Levitt's role in The Dark Knight Rises will be as Alberto Falcone, the son of Mafia chieftain Carmine Falcone, the character Tom Wilkinson played in Batman Begins.
Alberto Falcone, also known as the serial killer the Holiday Killer, is said to be based on Fredo Corleone of the Godfather series and was featured in Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale series' "Batman: The Long Halloween" and "Batman: Dark Victory".
This news meshes with a previous quote from Gary Oldman talking about the story saying, "It's the scope of it and the way [Christopher Nolan] sort of brings it back to Batman Begins. And really what Bruce Wayne discovers about himself and what he learns about himself by the end of this one."

Wonder if this means there will be at least a cameo by Tom Wilkinson... This also could lead to a theme about fathers or family legacies between Bruce and Thomas, Alberto and Carmine and perhaps Talia and Ras.

Are you people SERIOUSLY clamoring for Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn? Why not just have another Macy Gray cameo, since current pop-culture references work SO well in superhero movies...

Having not read the comics, I usually have to read up on information about who these characters are and Levitt's character sounds very interesting and also explains a lot about the various planned filming locations, since some were looked at for having a winter/snowy look, in addition to growing list of possible cities and so on. That makes sense with this "Holiday" aspect and will likely mean the film takes place over the period of a year or more.

Do people really want Harley Quinn in the movie? I don't see her working well within the Nolanverse.

I fucking hate all this specualtion about the next batman movie, i'll just see it when it come out. If I listened to these boards Johnny Depp will be Riddler, Philip Seymore Hoffman will be he Penguin and Joseph Gordon Levitt will be Black Mask or some shit.

Christian Bale = Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine = Alfred
Anne Hathaway = Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Gary Oldman = Commissioner Gordon
Tom Hardy = Bane
Joseph Gordon Levitt = Alberto Falcone
All that's left as far as I know is whether Marion Cotillard will be in it. There may be a couple other surprises (mostly with the story) but overall it's kind of straight forward with filming set to begin very soon.

Logic in this board hasn't said otherwise besides peoples crappy suggestion of casting and some good suggestion of casting. JGL if anything was suggested for Black Mask cuz he fits the physical body and can go dark...also..can he act. I think the talk about Hoffman ended when Nolan said he wouldn't ever use him.

Maybe it's because of how he looked in Inception (mainly the gelled back hair) that has me thinking this but... Do y'all suppose Alberto Falcone will get scarred by Catwoman much the same way she scarred Carmine Falcone in the Year One comics?
